Welcoming the Carmack Composer in Residence St Catharine’s is delighted to be hosting distinguished composer Professor Nigel Osborne MBE as part of a new residency that encourages world-class composers to visit Cambridge with the aim of supporting and inspiring the next generation of musicians. Following an endowment by Elizabeth Carmack in 2024, Professor Osborne will be the first composer to participate in the residency when he visits Cambridge 9–13 March 2026. For the first five years starting in 2026, the Carmack Composer in Residence will be based at St Catharine’s.

Engineer wins outstanding thesis prize A St Catharine's alumna has received one of the first Rex Moir Outstanding PhD Thesis Prizes when they were announced by the University of Cambridge's Department of Engineering earlier this year. Dr Minjia Chen (2020, Engineering) scooped the top award for theses defended in 2024 for her research on “Integrated photonic iterative processors for computing”.

Building bridges on the Cambridge Executive MBA China Trek In September 2025, several members of the St Catharine’s College community joined fellow students and alumni from Cambridge Judge Business School on the third annual China Trek. The week-long, student-organised programme brought participants to key cities across the Greater Bay Area (GBA) region, including Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Macau and Hengqin, to observe emerging developments in technology, entrepreneurship and cross-border collaboration.
