So, in launching a huge bombing campaign on Iran they apparently didn't plan for:
- Who takes over;
- Interceptor shortages from sustained drone retaliation;
- How to defend US bases in the region;
- Threats to ships in the Strait of Hormuz; and
- How to evacuate Americans with airspace closed.
If anyone is friends with any Georgian air traffic controllers, buy them a nice bottle of wine. As guardians of pretty much the only narrow gap still available between Europe and Asia that avoids both Iran, the Gulf, Ukraine and Russia, they are under some substantial pressure.

Private equity is incapable of adapting to a world where they can’t just brute force returns by buying shit, laying people off, and reselling it. Their lax standards and deep attachment to financial models disconnected from the rest of the world means that they can’t see that their business model is collapsing, and that viewing the world through spreadsheets that only optimize for eternal growth is becoming a losing position. Private credit shares private equity’s lack of common sense and repulsive greed, which is why we’re only going to see more First Brands and Tricolors, and that’s before you get to what I believe will be many data center deals that were founded on flimsy economics and a poor understanding of technology and the world. For private credit’s $200 billion in data center investments to make sense, they will need to successfully complete over 4.4 gigawatts of data center capacity. That capacity will need to be fully allocated, built on schedule, require no further capital to finish, and then have near-perpetual tenancy, otherwise these debt deals will go unpaid. If these debt deals go unpaid, pensions will go unpaid, as will insurance policies. This is the future great financial crisis. For me to be wrong, the AI bubble will have to conjure up roughly $63.8 billion of annual revenue — at around $14.5 million per megawatt per year — for any of this to make sense. And, to be clear, there was around $61 billion to $70 billion of revenue across every single AI company, infrastructure providers included, in 2025. The demand doesn’t exist, and I don’t think private equity or private credit is ready for what happens when all of that goes unpaid. It’s easy to believe that the rich and powerful have a plan, but based on everything I’ve learned for this piece, I think private equity may be run by some of the least-thoughtful people to live on this planet. And they absolutely don’t have a plan if they’re wrong.
I fear that when the AI bubble pops, the contagion will be bigger and more damaging than I feared, scarring state pensions, state investment funds, and people's retirements.

I am not sure that the way out of the AI bubble is hoping that General Artificial Intelligence arrives and uses its beyond human capacity to work out how to make enough money to pay everyone back.
What will follow is a determined attempt to limit the contagion by isolating a couple of individuals (Andrew and Peter Mandelson) who will become utterly disgraced, but will carry the can for the whole system, which will continue largely untouched.

Under the current establishment consensus we are facing a de-humanitarian ratchet. Things are permitted to get worse but not better. Attempts to improve life are denounced as woke threats to national security. Attempts to lock up more people, degrade living conditions are just realism.
