It's another one of those cases where it's unclear if they're true believers in uninspiring Centrism or if they want the Conservatives to win.

Mamdani losing that election would have further sunk the Dems at a national level and I'm not sure they understand that.

Mamdani is more proof that voters don't want centrists.

The guy was up against constant interference and attempted rigging and still won decisively even though he was up against a spoiler that was tailor made for those swing voters you claim are the only way to win elections.

That's why it's so frustrating to see the Dems continually run candidates that don't even clear that insanely simple hurdle.

Yes, a ton of voters AREN'T educated on the issues. That's why it's the candidate's job to educate those people on the issues rather than shrugging and saying things should work the way they wish they did.

Well, no, they were chosen by a very small number of specific voters on the basis of what they wanted rather than what the general public wanted.

I don't have a perfect candidate and I never will. The only people who get their perfect candidates are centrists at the cost of presidential elections.

The problem is the Dems aren't running "possible", they're running "perfect*"

*For a few centrists and no one else.

Thank Clinton, Biden, and Harris. They're the ones that doomed us with him twice now.

You learn it in middle school.

The trick is you have to convince people to vote for you rather than pretending observable reality works the way you wish it did.

I'm not complaining so much as I'm theorizing why our current Dems seem unable/unwilling to meet the moment.

Don't worry, I'm sure Trump wouldn't immediately take full credit for lowering gas prices.

I feel like it's a mix of them being too afraid to upset their right wing donors and them being big enough rubes to think that the strategists, who are very clearly just looking to milk them for easy money, actually know how to win elections which, you know, they clearly don't.

And those swing voters didn't like Harris's Conservative-lite campaign.

Seems more foolish to run a campaign that wasn't trying to win them over if their votes were enough to turn the tide of the election.

And Harris ran a campaign that was based around trying to win over Conservatives at the expense of losing countless liberal and progressive voters.

Turns out these swing voters don't want their choices to be "far right" and "center right".

The swing voters you're referring to have made it more than clear that they don't approve of anything Trump is doing.

As it turns out voters expect them to actually fight the fascists instead of scowling while voting for everything the fascists want.

Yeah, I get the feeling that whatever happens with this is the result of Schumer and the DNC just not having a clue what people want to vote for anymore.

Like, I don't think Oyster guy is going to turn out well if he wins, but voters need more than "Well, she's old so she deserves it."

I left partly because the Twitter app kept soft locking my phone and partly because the user base over there was getting more and more obnoxious.

Maybe it would have been harder for me to leave if I had a bunch of followers, but I doubt it. At this point there's not even an audience over there.

I don't have a ton of hope that the party will come around if the donors don't want them to.
