I genuinely believe he will launch a nuke before this is done, it’s the logical culmination of the entire admin’s “we win by being more violent and evil than the other guy, and if that’s not working, escalate both” ethos

It’s horrifying how many people seem to think ”it was better back when husbands were the sole breadwinners and wives stayed home all day with the kids” is a progressive opinion

“Every farm that is subsidized, every Romantic idyll that is coddled, every aesthetic sustained by the state signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed.”

She apparently owns farmland that went fallow for several years because she couldn’t find any sharecroppers

Dems in California, Oregon, and Washington have literally nobody but themselves to blame for this.

I hope freezing your neighborhoods in amber was worth the loss of representation and the impending feeling of dread.

DO YOU THINK SUBSISTENCE FARMERS HAVE FF14

The writer of this piece bought a small farm just north of Iowa City with her professor husband & has never run the farm herself. The land wasn't farmed at all from 2017 to 2020 because they couldn't find a tenant.

Yeah, there’s absolutely no way Vladimir Putin would be sending satellite reconnaissance photos to the Iranians, he certainly doesn’t benefit from elevated oil prices and US economic problems

Got to love Bluesky the web site for left/libs who believe in transhumanism and also that technology and modernity is irredeemably capitalist.

Nobody in the West seems to be arguing that the territorial integrity of Syria, which is in fact under constant threat, necessitates the construction of a state of the art air force subsidized to the tune of tens of billions of dollars.

One of the key ways to see how all the talk about Lebanese sovereignty is a mirage is to look at what specifically DC and Paris give Lebanon in the form of military assistance. They very specifically do not want a peer state to Israel but a state just capable enough of internal policing of Lebanese.

- Really makes you feel like you're part of history!

I love how FDR has become this deliberately or incompetently pro-Nazi guy in the minds of both far right and far left nuts, meanwhile the actual guy spent years trying to drag the country into war to stop Hitler lol

People make a lot of comparisons to the Nazis but I think one big one to be made here is their inability to even comprehend the existence of actual strategy, instead thinking that you could just do a bunch of operations and then win, without ever considering what those operations actually acomplish.

Though on a side note, why do all historians have to learn an additional language? Like I get if you are studying literally any place or time period where English is not spoken but I kinda assumed a historian of post 1800s England or something could get away with just English lol

09.03.2026 17:21 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0

my SO’s family is Swedish, and I am trying to learn the language just to be polite, but like 96% of Swedes speak English so it is kinda pointless in a very real sense

09.03.2026 17:21 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0

learning languages is hard, and sometimes it feels kind of pointless when given how many people outside of America learn English as a second language.

For 2024, the *household* income quintiles were
Top: 175k+
2nd: 105-175k
3rd: 65k-105k
4th: 34.5k-65k
Lowest: 0-34.5k

Obviously somewhat subjective to living area, but most upper-income folks have very little sense of where they sit.
