More than 60% of Australian medical researchers left active research roles between 2019 & 2024 because they could not make ends meet - while my costings from the PBO suggest the govt could more than double annual spending from the MRFF without any effect on its base level of funding.
Why the USA can't afford anything.
I miss @kudelka.bsky.social
Why would the Gulf states need Australia's military assistance to defend themselves from Iran?
Trump says Iran is 'very inaccurate with their munitions' Blames them for the death of 165+ schoolgirls.
I found this interesting - as always, follow the $$

Today on #IWD I’m thinking of how a woman is murdered every 5 days by male violence. Of First Nations women being imprisoned at 25 times the rate. Of women seeking asylum in Australia being forced in poverty & homelessness.
...single celled amoebas are smarter than us.
Extraordinary to be reading in the media about our chances of surviving a global nuclear war... 43 years post "The Day After" and terrifying another generation.
We are the dumbest species to ever walk the planet, and that includes cockroaches.
Sad to hear of the passing of radio legend, Jamie Dunn (aka) Agro.
We worked together for a year on radio and although didn't see eye-to-eye, politically, he was a kind, big-hearted man.
Condolences to all his friends, loyal listeners and his family.
Vale.

'Never trust a man with two first names" goes the saying... but what about a man with two first names as a first name?
The Coathanger, Opera House, Luna Park tower and iconic ferries on the sparkling Harbour...Blessed to call this great City home.
Pleased to launch “Luna Park” by Helen Pitt last night. It’s the most fabulous book! Go buy it!
And look at this setting … best in the world.
Glorious Sydney. Sublime!
Lot of assumptions you're making there, pal.
He said a lot of women passengers asked him to turn it off, RIGHT NOW!
If there's a Kyle podcast... "I'll be the first to listen", he said.
Lest you think Kyle doesn't have die-hard fans. My Uber driver last night recognised me from radio days and waxed lyrical about Kyle for 40 mins
And now he's off air, the driver says he's switched his shifts to afternoons.
That Kyle was the reason he got out of bed in the morning.
He is "devo"!
Very much value my @crikey.com.au subscription.
Indi media is so worth paying for in these times of billionaire ownership and opaque influence.
Mothers, sisters, wives and daughters.
That was never going to be mentioned... so 'toon still stands, I reckon.
Single frame. Karoline Leavitt on the press briefing lectern with a US flag and a large “chocolate wheel” with coloured panels showing: “REGIME CHANGE -YAY!; THEY’RE TERRORISTS!; THEY HAVE NUKES!; THEY DOT HAVE NUKES YET; WE WANT TO REPLACE THE LEADER; WE KILLED THE REPLACEMENTS; ARMAGEDDON!!!; PRE-EMPTIVE SELF-DEFENCE; BIBI IS OUR FRIEND; (SOME SCHOOLGIRLS MAY HAVE DIED); WHAT OIL?!; MID-TERMS - YIKES!” Leavitt says, “Next question?”
Spin.
My @smh cartoon.

Good grief, mainlining News Corp's so-called 'news' directly into Meta's A.I. What could possibly go wrong?

Moderators at PETER VAN ONSELEN's 'Daily Mail' happily printing comments calling for the death of Laura Tingle, currently stranded in Dubai. This one of the tamer ones. Their 'House Rules' are just for show.
By any objective assessment the US is deeply damaging to Australia. But our government refuses to see reality, writes Bernard Keane. www.crikey.com.au/2026/03/03/m...
RIP to the great Ted Emery, as funny as the dozens of TV comedies he directed. All who worked with him will miss his no-nonsense style, kindness, and many, many x-rated stories about working on ‘Countdown’. tvtonight.com.au/2026/03/vale...
We certainly have - directing comedy is such a special skill and Ted Emery was so brilliant at it.
Condolences to all my comedy friends who will be remembering their partnership with Ted in bringing the laughs over so many years.
Vale xx
