‘Hey’ came before ‘hi,’ and ‘hi' came before ‘hello.’
‘Hi’ is most likely a variant of ‘hey.’
‘Hello’ is not related to either.
Goodbye.

This talk was originally free-styled to my alma mater program @waynestatetnp.bsky.social --> conceptualized for @adaaanxiety.bsky.social thanks to @scientificruvvy.bsky.social --> then shared with junior faculty at @unmcmmi.bsky.social
I love the evolution of skills-based talks ! 🤩
Hiiii guess who is talking about time- and self-management at the end of the month through #NEWomeninSTEM ??
I have met awesome women through this conference AND through their volunteer events.
I will be presenting much of the cannabinoid work I have been doing in the Mental Health and Addiction Program Rounds. My talk "Pharmacological Manipulation of the Endocannabinoid System" ties together my work with @mayoonthebrain.bsky.social and my current work with @brainsbeesbikes.bsky.social
It is when forced to eat in the airport that man reveals his True Form
Inventum coffee maker circa the 1970s it has a delightful shape and appealing color palate of orange, yellow, umber and white and a pattern of flower stalks it doubtless makes undrinkable swill, but has rizz for days
contemporary Inventum drip coffee maker looking like a piece of sterile lab equipment with a little digital clock makes better coffee, but at what cost?
look how far we've fallen
Brown tabby cat laying on beige carpet. The sunbeams form a slight star around her head
Feeling like a ✨star✨ this weekend.
A student in the lab mentioned they have a committee meeting this week and I said “Oh ya. Me too.”
Feel free to log into my defense on Wednesday to see all the work I have been doing the last few years!
The US is broadly a country that likes to invest in science. Even among Republicans this is true. But we are governed by an administration that is opposed to science, and is using procedural tools to limit spending and increase political control over the process.
Are you a grad student or postdoc that published in @acerjournal.bsky.social in 2025? Deadline is extended and we would love to read your paper and nomination letter!!
Good morning, we have two MATLAB terminals open and two HPC terminals open. Will probably have two RStudios open before EOD.

the only place this should happen is academic conferences
What I fail to remember when I accept a reviewer request is that I will have to read the paper again (and again....and again) until it is done. And no matter if I limit how many I accept to review, they still end up perfectly aligning to needing a review back in the same 14-day window.
Really proud of our team working to make #SciComm fun, accessible, and personal--this is what makes our day to day work in #research come to life. Here, Naga connects the lessons of #Ramadan with our focus on the #neuroscience of #resilience. Sign up for our weekly #newsletter at r2lab.online !
I will never understand why NIAAA does this to their grantees. Foot draggiest IC. And NIDA isn’t much better.

It's that time again! Reposts appreciated, we want to make sure as many potential science communicators see this as possible.
🎉 1st paper from my NIMH F32 fellowship examining risk and resilience factors + biological aging after trauma (mentors: @nateurneuro.bsky.social and Kerry Ressler!)
Under certain conditions, resilience factors can have unexpected or even adverse effects....
A line graph shown the number of NIH new and competitive awards funded for fiscal year 2026 (through 2/13/26) compared with fiscal years 2021-2025. The fiscal year 2026 is lagging well behind with only 569 awards made through 2/13/26 compared to >2000 for previous fiscal years.
New and competitive renewal awards.
The number of awards is 569 compared with more than 2200 through the same date in earlier fiscal years.
All ICs have now made awards except for NIAAA, NCCIH, NLM, FIC, and OD. NEI (Eye Institute) made its first award during the new period.

Thermos are not that great (and newer makes need way more defrosts than I ever thought they needed). However, our's was under warranty after repeated failures and we did get it replaced. So that was nice. Good reddit thread on freezers

Today is the 18th anniversary of my first day sober.
Despite no one asking, here is a thread of thoughts of a life in sobriety.
Noted!
Can I share with RSA social media to repost? :-) we want to highlight members in the news!

A history of how the #NIH came to be. The purpose of the NIH is to support science innovation. Government support of science grows the economy, brings power and prosperity to the country. This was part of the budget increase after WWI.
It became our backbone.
