Render of four LEGO spaceships on flight stand. In the center are two thin, angular ships, white save for a thin stripe of lime green on either side. Flanking them are a mean-looking red ship and a very blocky, utilitarian one in two-tone grey.
As these ships are private security for a corporation within the EDSC, I wanted to keep them slightly smaller than the cruiser-class vessels used by the military. So they're thinner than Navy ships, but longer than those of their rivals at Zero Point.

Front and back renders of two LEGO spaceships on flight stands. Both ships are thin and angular, and white save for a thin stripe of lime green on either side. Both have small turrets on their sides. One has a hangar protected by a force field and is accompanied by a flight stand of tiny abstract mecha, while the other has a massive laser built into its prow.
Been a while since I've made any spaceships, but Marathon has inspired me. So here's a pair of cruiser-class ships for my as-yet unnamed medical megacorporation. The first is a carrier, while the second has a massive spinal laser. An early draft; might change as I work on their smaller ships. #LEGO

So nice to see the finished panel. The sketch was magnificent; love how you stylized it for the comic to keep that buzzing energy.

I keep thinking I'd love to get into that, to design my own minis at 15, 6, or even 2 mm scale. I just dread all of the health hazards of dealing with resin in a small living space. But if you can swing it, I expect you'd be living the dream.

Well, they did it. Marathon is utterly fantastic. They've managed an extraction shooter loop that just feels right, even for a decrepit coward such as myself. The emergent gameplay has me constantly looking forward to the next run even when risking my gear. Might upgrade to the deluxe edition soon.

The top one. The single missile launcher feels more prominent and eyecatching, and the mini-turrets being pushed forward gives the main turret more room to breathe. And the bottom one feels a bit empty around the vision slit (if that's what it is). Lovely work!

Playing Marathon? If you need a bit of trash loot or want a teammate to enable Insane difficulty, you know where to find me. ๐ (In Perimeter, probably hiding and/or dying.)

Photo of four painted 15 mm Quar miniatures from the nation of Easky. At the left is an is-Caerten, an officer. Next to him are three Snokyr-72R Autopeds, sort of like tracked motorcycles, each with two side-by-side riders and a machine gun.
Photo of seven painted 15 mm Quar miniatures from the nation of Creevin. Six are Shotgunners, while at the right of the line is an is-Caerten officer.
Photo of six painted 15 mm Quar miniatures from the nation of Creevin. These are Grenadiers, wearing blast armor and carrying grenades and shotguns or pistols.
Finished painting these 15 mm Quar. I need to do a bit of work on my previously painted models to match. Then I can finally add grass to all of the bases. Glad I took a short break from painting, as it made getting back to work on these much more fun. #quar #tabletop #wargaming #miniaturepainting

I do think Marathon has managed a better take than most (especially with contracts that you can make progress in without even extracting, and the free kits help). But I've still got a love/hate relationship with the genre for sure. We'll see how this one holds up after launch.

Photo of the sky at sunset. Clouds stretch over a nearby mountain, lit from below by the sun with lava-like orange highlights.
Absolutely beautiful sunset upon leaving the shops today. All but gone mere minutes later.

Photo of thirteen mostly-painted 15 mm Quar miniatures. These are from the nation of Creevin, and are split into a unit of six Grenadiers, a unit of six Shotgunners, and a lone officer.
Photo of four mostly-painted 15 mm Quar miniatures from the nation of Easky. One is an officer on foot, while the other three are Autopedsโsmall tracked vehicles with two riders and a machine gun on each.
Photo of a whole lot of mostly-painted 15 mm Quar miniatures on a forest floor battle mat. Units of 3-5 models, plus a few vehicles, are arrayed in two rough lines facing off. At the bottom is my Creevin force, with Shotgunners, Grenadiers, Rhyflers, Cavalry, and three officers. At the top is my Easky force, with Autopeds, a Gun Squad, Rhyflers, a Pygaed tractor, and two officers.
I've been making great progress on my 15 mm Quar, but even though these have been a joy to paint I'm still getting burnt out. So these are still WIPs in need of wood, metals, shading/highlighting, and finished basing. Even so, they sure look nice grouped up! #tabletop #wargaming #miniaturepainting

This was a quick inspirational painting using a #Homeworld 2 background by the legendary Rob Cunningham as a base and staging the new HW 3 style of missile frigates I was developing with Aaron Kambeitz.

Those are fantastic designs! My wife and I love them; she particularly likes how their soft, almost boneless form contrasts with the threat of the weapons they carry. Delightfully creepyโlooking forward to seeing them in miniature form!

Front and back renders of a LEGO model of Jack, the mascot of Jack in the Box. He wears a grey suit and has a large round ping pong ball of a head, with a pointy nose and a tiny hat.
Jack in the Box was founded 75 years ago today. We often go there for brunch (being able to get a sausage, egg, & cheese croissant any time of day is very important to me), so I made a build of the beloved mascot to celebrate. #LEGO

Photo of four 15 mm Quar miniatures on a printed cardboard battlefield tile, with a few more out of focus in the background. Three are Snokyr-72R Autopeds, sort of like tracked motorcycles each with two riders and a machine gun. They are partially painted, and are in front of a matching fully-painted Pygaed light tractor, a slightly larger armored vehicle with three machine guns.
Started painting my next batch of 15 mm Quar. I'm really pleased with how these Easky Autopeds are going. The edges and rivets are quick and easy to highlight, and adding the mud and oil is fun. They look great with the Pygaed light tractor. Crew to follow! #tabletop #wargaming #miniaturepainting

Still obsessing over Turnip28. Looking at kitbashing Wargames Atlantic's Halfling Militia, Napoleonic French Infantry, and Classic Fantasy Guards. Should give me enough for three Regiments: the Beekeepers of Bhir, Butcher Brigade, and Slug's Lament. Not sure I'm ready to spend the money, though. ๐ฃ

Having a dedicated gaming space is lovely, but now I'm overwhelmed with options. I'm painting up my next batch of Quar, but I also want to order 2 mm minis for the Franco-Prussian War and for Valkyria Chronicles O Group. And I've started looking into Turnip28 as well. Hard to pick what to focus on.

They might be avoiding many scales because they're a nightmare to do on any round element like a neck or torso. As soon as they get anywhere near the sides they'll have to be noticeably more shallow. Like in your Doomwheel there, each wheel would have almost no texture toward the image top/bottom.
