Putting aside whether Lalonde should have been fired now or ride out the tank for the rest of the season, feels weird that coaches can be fired during the roster freeze. I get WHY, but seems to go against the spirit of it all #RedWings
Owen Tippett only has 2 goals and 7 shots that were tips so far this year, tied for 27th and 74th respectively. Talk about not living up to your name…
What’s next? Neither of Nick Cousins’ parents have siblings??
A NY team of Artemi Panarin, Alex Carpenter, Sarah Fillier, Boomer Esaison, David Boreanaz, and Igor Shesterkin might only be slowed down by the mandatory inclusion of an Islanders player
…or a shaky blueline. Might have to actually go through the exercise
Now that the #PWHL and #NHL seasons are both off and running, who can put together the best starting lineup of the 6 cities that have teams in both leagues? (All-star game idea??)
Must have…
2 NHL players
2 PWHL players
1 celebrity & 1 athlete from another sport, both associated with the area
Not sure how I missed that, thanks! Good to know it is cap in year 1 of the contract, that makes sense and is a pretty important distinction
Maybe not exactly what you are asking about, but showing cap hit as % of the cap would be nice. Ideally the % at time of signing the contract. Personally, I mostly use the site for contract details so things like that and value per $ (using whatever your preferred xG/Game Score/WAR metric is)
Random thought that feels like a job for @downgoesbrown.bsky.social
Using Goal/Assist chains, can you tie from the first NHL goal (Dave Ritchie) to a goal scored this year?
Like, Ritchie goal 1917, Ritchie assists Joe Malone 1920, Malone assists Morenz in 1923 and so on until 2024
With the #PWHL tour coming to Seattle in January, do I lock in my fandom based on whoever wins that game or just keep holding out for a team to come to Seattle? Open to suggestions! #hockey
But also what is going on with Vegas (fewest for pen drawn/60 and pen taken/60) and Boston (most for both)? How much is it the refs trying to “keep it even”? Cause no team has a drawn vs taken per 60 absolute difference of more than 0.82
Red Wings trading PP chances with SJ is just a fun time to mention that going into the game they are drawing penalties at exactly the same rate as they are taking penalties (3.17 per 60)
Which…given their PK…not a great strategy. If the PK had a pulse maybe that PP drags them to more wins though
WE’RE TAKING OVER! 🗣️
PWHL Takeover Tour will feature games across North America, with stops as far west as Seattle and as far east as Québec City.

Was looking at #NHL roster construction earlier this week and noticed more teams were carrying a third goalie (6) than teams that had two forwards being scratched (4). IR excluded. And more than both, were teams with two extra D (9). Curious if anyone has any theories around this #hockey
