Morning March Mood
I'm long on record as not liking this time of year in my neck of the woods, but even this dreary time of year yields some good photographic opportunities.
THREAD: I got laid off from NYMag/Vulture after 14 years. The family lost 75% of income + medical. Now mzs.press bookstore, once a side project. is do-or-die for Judith & I. I feel weird telling you this because others are doing much worse. But if you could like or share this, we'd be so grateful!
"How did he die?"
"In a well."

I wonder if former Sabres GM Kevyn Adams, whose firing I advocated because after 5 years as GM the team still sucked, wakes up like this now that the team that he built is winning like gangbusters
I'm kind of surprised that this far into DJT II: MAGA BOOGALOO, Michael Caputo hasn't slithered out from under some rock yet.
It does not speak well of the American people that Republicans are seen as stronger on the economy, immigration, or natural security.
The Pittsburgh Pirates, no doubt confused about how to feel after actually having had a decent off-season, reacted by fucking up the Andrew McCutchen situation. What a dumb franchise.
I know the default Bobby Hill quote is "That's my purse! I don't know you!", but honestly, in my daily life I get a lot more use out of "All sloppy, and no joe!"
New on my site: Something for Thursday! A one-hit disco wonder from the 1970s.
I use onion powder in some recipes that call for it (garlic powder, too), but nine times out of ten, if not more, I'm using real onion and real garlic.

I couldn't decide which of three pieces to feature today, so I said to myself, "Why limit myself to one?" That's right, you get all three. Composer and flautist Valerie Coleman has had aย deeply impressive career already. A native ofโฆ
Fun to think about, but the logistics of completing enough transactions to get this done are...dubious. Do I assume that the money is given in the form of, say, a single cash card loaded with that amount? Does the full transaction have to be completed, or are just signed agreements enough?
A new report by @thedotcity.bsky.social quantifies the economic toll of downtown freeways, and the economic potential of tearing them down.
The 66K acres that downtown freeways occupy could yield more than half a trillion dollars of development and over $5b annually in property taxes.
Karla who? (Genuinely not remembering, though I continue to be annoyed that Barbara Miller-Williams is still around)
At the Burchfieldย Penney

That's why I only drink Coke Zero now. I ain't got time for all of that.
Dennis Franz. (And he's a great actor!)
Tuesdays are bullshit. Easily the dregs of the week.
Pious lectures about "media literacy" from people who think criticism of the NYT is limited to their op-ed pages and not to serious issues with their reporting in general are always entertaining. Do go on.
The overalls-washing struggle is real (this is why I try to line-dry only)
Random Questions from Sundayย Stealing
Most times these quizzes are themed in some way. Not this week! These questions areย random as shit! Here we go! 1. Did you/will you have coffee or some other form of caffeine today?ย I literallyย just downed the last sip of Coffee Number One. Shortly I will getโฆ

Looks like we've reached "War in the Middle East" in the Republican President Playbook. Great job, America! Electing this guy was a terrific idea!
Dan Simmons has died. I bounced off HYPERION several times, but maybe I'll give it another go someday. I did think THE TERROR was absolutely amazing, and I read it well before the teevee show, so there's that.
