The European brown hare is the only mammal with confirmed 'SUPERFETATION': multiple fetuses at different developmental stages, showing they're getting pregnant while ALREADY pregnant, which is separate from the more common phenomenon, multiple pregnancies in the same cycle, 'superfecundation'.

Interesting to see what happens when you include having kids as a covariate? I’m sure child related sleep deprivation likely contributes to this result!

Why don’t new memories overwrite old ones? Sleep science holds clues Research in mice points towards a mechanism that avoids β€˜catastrophic forgetting’.

Why don’t new memories overwrite old ones? It appears that this is because the brain processes new and old memories in separate phases of sleep, which might prevent mixing between the two.

Instead of listing my publications, as the year draws to an end, I want to shine the spotlight on the commonplace assumption that productivity must always increase. Good research is disruptive and thinking time is central to high quality scholarship and necessary for disruptive research.

Feel like most of my early career is just moments of pure luck- not sure that in today's financial climate I'd able to retrace it. Two examples- someone pulled out from a scholarship in Oxford & I was next in line :), went to a meeting in Hawaii (Hawaii!!) & met a future mentor who changed my career
