I still have a few of those quilts that my grandmother made. She braided cloth rugs too. She also used the cotton sugar & flour bags to make pillow cases, putting a brightly coloured trim on the edge. Every scrap was used, even yarn. I have mittens made of all her left over yarn one year (my ask).
