Land of the free my arse. Land of the callous land of oppression and stupidity. Land of the gun and measles.. I only know you have schools because of gun crime.

Gladys Mae West obituary: mathematician who pioneered GPS technology She made key contributions to US cold-war science despite facing huge barriers as a Black woman.

No joke: I got angry hate mail today for writing an obituary of a Black woman scientistβ€”because the person felt she did didn’t deserve the recognition.

Which just makes me want to share it again: www.nature.com/articles/d41...

Sir Ian McKellen performing a monologue from Shakespeare’s Sir Thomas More on the Stephen Colbert show. Never have I heard this monologue performed with such a keen sense of prescience. Nor have I ever been in this exact historical moment.TY Sir Ian, for reaching us once again.

Mafia goon: Nice house you got here...it'd be a shame if something happened to it

Media outlets: Mafia goon rules out use of force. Expresses regret at the mere thought of it

More than 200,000 Danish citizens have signed a petition to buy California as a response to Trump’s attempt to take Greenland.

They say they will provide Californians with β€œrule of law, universal health care, fact-based politics, and a lifetime supply of Danish pastries.”

Parents of trans people speak out...

β€œMy daughter has just done some trial sessions with the Rainbows as she has some friends that attend and she loved it.

We are in the middle of arranging a legal name change and we were waiting for that to be sorted before we registered her. But today we were told that she can’t sign up now...

🀍 We stand with every family affected by the Girlguiding policy change

What happened to this young girl is not an abstract policy debate. It's a child who was excited to be part of Rainbows with her friends, tried her sessions, loved them, was ready to join. Now she's been told she doesn't belong.

Here are some things that Charlie Kirk said in his life.

The man is dead, and so it only seems fair to share his legacy by cataloguing the values he spread while alive.

I can't have empathy for someone who has demonised my community for a decade or more. Besides he wouldn't want me to as and again I quote "I can't stand the word empathy, actually. I think empathy is a made-up, new age term that β€” it does a lot of damage."

Charlie Kirk said of gun deaths on April 5, 2023, "I think it's worth it. I think it's worth to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the Second Amendment to protect our other God-given rights."

If she or any of the front bench of the new Tories showed any semblance of empathy for the elderly, the disabled, trans folk, the people suffering genocide, and valued democracy over what ever the hell is happening at the moment. I would be a little sympathetic, but no fucks given, as is deserved.

- Will male police officers now have powers to strip search any woman they suspect as being trans?
- What does 'biological sex' mean? Is it 1. what's on your birth certificate? 2. one's genitals? 3. hormonal? 4. chromosomes? 5. A combination of all of these?
- If 1. will we all now have to carry our birth certificates around with us and present them every time we wish to urinate? If 2. Will we have to present our genitals for inspection? (in which case some trans women have vaginas)? If 3. Will we have to take a 'gender test' similar to that undergone by elite athletes? If 4. How will that be measured?
- If the answer is 5 - where will intersex people go? What is deemed to be the 'correct' balance of female hormones? Will cis women with naturally high testosterone be allowed to use single sex spaces? What about cis women who are post-menopausal?
- Where are trans men supposed to go if they need a single sex space? I cannot imagine the gender critical campaigners behind the Supreme Court decision would be comfortable sharing with people who are indistinguishable in almost every way from cis men (and trans men would certainly not want to do that either).
And finally if, as I suspect, all of the answers to my questions above conspire to create a situation where womanhood is a tightly gatekept thing, accessible only to those who meet strict criteria, and everyone else is labelled 'not woman' - How is that a win for feminism?

I’ve asked my local MP to ask these questions to the government on my behalf. Feel free to copy and paste if useful.

...get really really bad and for everyone.
If that's the long term aim why not use trans people as the means to erode and eradicate protections for everyone. It'll also all be trans people's fault obviously.
That'll make for some happy billionaires. I'm not a billionaire are you?
