The reason Anne Frank's story has resonated with so many people over so many years is not because circumstances have to be exactly the same as her's for anyone to care, but because anything remotely like it is wrong, and societies moving in that direction should oppose it well before they get there.
What is happening in America right now. The arbitrary power of a tyrant deployed against his political enemies.
New England asters looking mighty fine in the late October sun!
Last year, CNN ran a “fact check” of Kamala HQ that claimed we were lying for saying Trump’s plan is Project 2025.
Now Trump is outright admitting it’s his plan.
Legacy media failed the country.
A monarch butterfly sips from the fuzzy pink flowers of a tall Joe Pye Weed plant
Finally! It took the grand opening of the Joe Pye Weed flowers to bring in the monarchs 🦋! Milkweed has been blooming all over the yard but they never show up until these guys are open. A happy sight indeed 🌱
A tiny pale green spider sits on a spherical cluster of tiny flowers on a buttonbush (Cephalanthus occidentalis) shrub.
I caught this cool little green crab spider patiently waiting on one of my buttonbush flowers. Buttonbushes are in full bloom now and have become some of my favorite plants in the garden: so cool and so attractive to a variety of pollinators! 🌱
An orange sunset is reflected off the surface of a calm lake.
There’s just something special about a sunset over a lake… too bad vacation is nearing its end.

ICE RAID ALERT 6/8/25
#FUCKICE
A screenshot from Fox News' The Ingraham Angle Laura Ingraham is on the left third of the screen talking, the other 2/3 are taken up by video of Americans shouting down ICE agents during one of their jack booted raids The chyron reads "Meet the anti-ICE idiots"
i know no one cares about hypocrisy or shamelessness or anything anymore but these people really used to tell us they were scared of an armed govt being turned against americans, they made an entire career out of it
Enjoy a few moments of zen, courtesy of second harmonic generation + ordinary potato starch in water: gold is forward-scattered, blue is backwards-scattered.
I wrote about the 23-year-old crypto bro with effectively no relevant work experience, who @alondra.bsky.social revealed is sitting in meetings, not paying attention, and then giving the thumbs up/thumbs down on whether they can get their NSF grants...
I’m excited to announce that my paper describing non-canonical mitotic mechanisms in the early mouse embryo is out in @science.org ! (link at end of 🧵)
Harvard correctly understands that it’s in a fight for its life and there is no appeasement that will save it. I wish a lot more institutions understood this.
If you use a tool that you don’t understand, eventually the only output the tool will produce is a replica of your non understanding.

Again, forgot the 🌱
Bradbury’s Monarda, a low-growing bee balm
Lyreleaf sage, a low-growing plant with spiky pink flowers.
Monarda bradburnia and Salvia lyrata: two underrated spring bloomers that enhance the garden all summer and into the fall. Plant as many of these as you can!
Delicate blue flowers on low leafy stems
Large black and yellow bee on delicate blue flowers.
Jacob’s ladder is blooming now and it’s so funny to see these heavy carpenter bees landing on the delicate flower stalks. This is a really nice plant for shady spots: it spreads naturally and deer/rabbits leave it alone. 🌱
I always forget to add the 🌱
Wild bleeding heart: pink heart-shaped flowers
Virginia bluebells: blue bell-shaped flowers
Rue anemone: small white flowers
Finally some flowers in the garden! It’s been such a cold, depressing few weeks; it’s nice to finally see some color.
