The abrupt terminations of more than 1,000 employees, including new Epidemic Intelligence Officers, across CDC are deeply disturbing. For more than 70 years, EIS officers have served on America’s front line as its disease detectives, ready at a moment’s notice to respond to emerging outbreaks.
As an EIS alum, I appreciate those in leadership getting the word out about this tragic loss of new talent. Those of us in the states will be lost without the EIS "troops" who work 24/7 to battle new disease outbreaks. I hope @maddow.msnbc.com and others will publicize the damage that will be done.
