I was proud to be part of this work the past three years. I know what it’s like to fight to get a veteran off the streets and into stable, safe, permanent housing. Minnesota has made amazing progress in its quest toward ending veteran homelessness.

I am energized every time I set foot on Capitol campus. This morning I sat in senate committee meetings and attended the Equal Rights Amendment rally in the rotunda. I have testified to support the ERA in the past from the perspective of a woman veteran. ERA yes. ERA now.
We have to have the hard conversations to continue to prevent these tragic losses.
Yesterday I stopped in at the community center for a very serious event on opioid awareness. The Maple Grove PD, sheriff’s office, Hennepin County, and nonprofits delivered the education and answered parents’ and concerned citizens questions about how to keep our kids safe from opioid deaths.
I'm so excited to get out into neighborhoods to knock on doors! Join me March 15 for our first door knock of the season. While it may still be a bit chilly, Minnesotans don't wait for the weather to cooperate. See you there!

I am at the capitol today advocating for Maple Grove Transit and suburban transit providers. We oppose HF4111 which would absorb suburban transit providers into Metro Transit, eliminating local control in a very tight timeline. This could leave our communities with reduced and inadequate service.

Today I attended the Suburban Transit Association legislative breakfast at the Centennial Office Building. I am the city council representative on the STA to advocate for Maple Grove Transit.
This International Women's Day we celebrate women with the theme "give to gain" which highlights the importance of generosity, collaboration, and investment in women to achieve equality and empowerment. I am also a fan of the quote "Well behaved women seldom make history."
I had a very physically challenging day at work and am unwinding with some sushi at Apa Sushi for dinner. They’re one of our newer restaurants in Maple Grove. A plus! Definitely check them out!
Afterward, I got a tour of the VFW basement where I could see the results of two Eagle Scouts projects, organization of their medical equipment loan system and the creation of white crosses for deceased veterans who were VFW members.
I attended a veterans happy hour with Orono Rotary at the Hamel VFW, with many Hamel Legion members also in attendance. I enjoyed catching up with Maple Plain Mayor Julie Maas-Kusske and former Independence Mayor Marv Johnson.
I also appreciated the chance to connect with Senator Amy Klobuchar, Secretary of State Steve Simon, and Hennepin County Attorney candidate Anders Folk. Special shout out to my husband Chip for stopping in to greet delegates with me at the beginning of convention!
Saturday I announced I am the DFL-endorsed candidate for Minnesota Senate District 37. I was honored to receive the support of delegates at the convention. Thank you to Majority Leader Erin Murphy, Senator Nick Frentz, Senator Bonnie Westlin, and Representative Kristin Bahner for your support.

Ramadan Mubarak. Yesterday I joined dignitaries at an Iftar with Ahmadiyya Muslim Community. I was invited by Maple Grove resident Dr. Waqas Khalid. I enjoyed the beautiful meal with members of the community and faith leaders and strongly support their motto: “Love for all. Hate for none.”

Happy 50th Birthday to my husband, Chip! When we first met 20 years ago, I don't think it was on his radar that I'd be running for public office. I'm so grateful to have his partnership in life and on the campaign trail.
I had lunch with David and Linda Hoden at @dailydosemn . I call them my Maple Grove parents, and they have been close family friends of mine and mentors on my politics journey. David is recovering from heart surgery and is on the mend after two months in the hospital. Welcome back, dad!
