It's notl surprising that they have mostly abandoned those topics in their messaging since the election – the electorate apparently agrees with Trump on those issues, especially in swing states. It sucks, and they should grow a spine and stand for something, but they can't control the narrative

I don't know, to me it seems like the Dems are pulled hardest to the right after losses. The narrative of this cycle is that voters punished Dems for:
1. Causing inflation
2. Too many immigrants
3. Being too friendly to trans people
4. DEI
5. Supporting Ukraine and Gaza

This would go in the other direction if everyone actually voted for the lesser evil each time. Your chart is what happens when people refuse to vote.

More often, the party will notice that they lost, and the lesson they take from it is that the other party is way more popular with people who vote. And with every election, the losing party has to play against whatever structural advantages that accrued to the party in power in the last cycle
