The real lesson of the second Covid-19 inquiry? We live in a post-truth world Government ministers’ creative interpretations of the royal commission’s report took spin to scary new levels.

Essential read on this govt’s reckless gaslighting:

“It’s election year, I get it. But implying science & health advice was routinely being ignored fuels the distrust that erodes social cohesion—something the report is at pains to emphasise must be restored.” #nzpol

National lamenting $60 billion Covid spend while they are on track to borrow $120 billion with no pandemic.

Labour saved 20,000 lives.

National are saving landlords and tobacco

Let me tell you something. Y’all are asking too many damn questions at every point of sale. I have to leave a comment, make a suggestion, donate to a charity, choose a method of payment three times and then multiple choice of ways to get a receipt.

Take the damn money and leave me alone.

If the Government enacted pay gap reporting, women in New Zealand who earn the median wage would get an 'extra' (or rather, not miss out on...) $25.36 per week. For wahine Māori it's $58.40 and $76.40 for Pacific women.

It's that simple. Let Luxon know it's OVERDUE: www.stillmindingthegap.nz

International (working) Women's Day seemed to be an occasion for the great and the good only this year, because #disabled #women are not seen as workers, and are frequently excluded from women's events, intentionally or not. Our lives are worth celebrating, & we work as hard as other women.

Prime Minister Christopher Luxon 'absolutely not' considering standing down The Prime Minister told Newstalk ZB all of his ministers were telling him they back him.

"The only thing I am considering is the future of our children & grandchildren." #nzpol And let’s be clear, that’s only his children & grandchildren. He’s made the lives of 10s of 1000s of children & grandchildren infinitely worse.

Luxon believes he has skills.

TVNZ board chair rang senior minister to discuss negative coverage Justice minister won't reveal exactly what the public broadcaster's board chair said, while police minister doubles down on concerns about bias.

Right-wing commentators were *obsessed* with what they fancied was the former Labour govt's control of the media. Yet now we have what looks like direct political interference with reporting that ministers didn't like. Far out. newsroom.co.nz/2026/03/04/t...

99.4% of disabled learners now attend local mainstream schools. Back in Andrew's day they were shunted off to special schools and excluded. Funding for this has not kept up with need. On top of that, families are facing far worse material deprivation, drug use stress etc than 30+ years ago.

I'm sorry, I can't believe NZME journalists are STILL using Labour MP Clare Curran as a synonym for fumbling to answer questions.

Do you know what she did? She used a personal Gmail account for Ministerial use in 2018.

Know who did that more recently? Current MP and media darling Erica Stanford.

New Zealand has more sunshine than Germany.
But only 1 in 35 homes here has rooftop solar.
Australia? 1 in 3.

Why? I tried to find out - despite some strange secrecy

Social media created this nonsense idea that not exposing yourself to hatred is isolationist. Choosing to not spend your free time with bigots isn’t living in a bubble. I don’t need to know what’s going on at X. I won’t be smarter or more knowledgeable or empathic by being there. Neither will you.

Let's not forget that Seymour called New Zealand's first Iranian born member of parliament, a woman whose parents fled the regime as dissidents, a "menace to freedom" resulting in her needing extra security as threats increased

He directed contributed to her being hounded out of public life

Perhaps. Altho I do think faith is a bit more complex than that. For those who are part of a faith belief/practice it can certainly seem so. Those who hold a faith speak to meaning, purpose, community, connection, and of course to spiritual experiences.

Its hard, because then you're falling into the No True Scotsman fallacy. Plus many of the underlying beliefs are orthodox - its the practice thereof that is bonkers
