Same dose of a man with boatloads of privilege and no children believes βprocreation is the reason weβre hereβ so maybe no need to give this any oxygen?

βThe importance of voting is very important.β My doom scroll this AM.
βPodcasting is perhaps the last major media format that is open, free, and not easily able to be captured by authoritarians. The stakes couldnβt be higher. All it takes now is a few decision makers pushing to do the right thing, not just the easy thing, to protect an entire vital medium.β
Look forward to chatting to a friend who used to be based there but was part of the gang moved to the building on the odd glass building on Dame St a few years ago!
I imagine thereβs possibly some truth to it but still. Also imagine trying to do the renovations while keeping the place somewhat operational would be a challenge too and likely also a reluctance to considering full-time working from an option for those who could given the post-Covid policies.
Why do they want to move?
A rendering of a reimagined college green with more trees, no roads and lots of open space
Today is the last day to submit on the college Green public consultation. Itβs super quick and easy to do!

Looks like Dublin City Council has bought Camden Yard, a site on Kevin Street, with a plan to built itself new offices there, relocate its Wood Quay HQ there -- per a message from teh council's CEO to councillors.
I remember a few industry lights on the design end of the tech industry advocating for unionisation maybe 10 years ago? They were mostly organising in the U.S. but it seems like a no brainer conversation topic for Ireland too given how many of us work in this space. www.thejournal.ie/ireland-tech...
Anyone else wanting to throw their telly out and/or switch toothpaste brand when that creepy AI ad for Colgate appears?

βServices operating normallyβ and no inbound teams to the terminus are conflicting pieces of info. Is there a possibility that the incoming Luas operator will do a better job at live updates and comms? The bar is quite low.
Northbound Green Luas stopped at Westmoreland due to a bit of an incident with someone on the track. Might be stalled for a while.
The cribbing last week over people not opting for heat pumps boiled my blood. If they had done even a token amount of research they might have anticipated the plateau and put better structure on the grants system but sure lookitβ¦
Energy independence is within our gift, if we wanted it.
As I have mentioned previously, the current government is composed of the stupidest remnants of the ancièn régime running on momentum and reactionary muscle memory.

Just when you think you've seen the most brain-dead hysterical media reporting on nonsensical anti-renewables "fears" whipped up on deranged Facebook groups, along comes the epic nonsense below:
Watch how this continues to shape the govβs positions for the foreseeable. Not good.
There is a discussion to be had about the workload of local authority members, who are paid about β¬31,000 a year and have no secretarial or administrative assistance. Using AI is a byproduct of how Ireland underresources its politicians.
You love to see/hear it, but surely The Poxton arenβt relying on a good local rep in any case? Surely not with their β¬13 sad sambos? www.allthefood.ie/single-post/...
Olympics Dog was chasing the motorized camera they have to capture the competitors at the finish line, then decided to chase some competitors instead
Feels like we are in the thick of a weird age dominated by dependency and/or addiction. ChatGPT, vaping, TikTok, GLP-1, etc etc etc.
My most optimistic of perspectives on AI for general use is currently this: it takes resources (skill and time mainly) to get anything close to useful or worthwhile out. You put garbage in, you get garbage out the other end. And Iβm seeing more of the latter as people try to ride the wave.
Can you people not do anything for yourselves
