Oh. I have no doubt. You're the one who had dream sequences with her as Nightwing and a Blue Lantern. I know you have the vision.

Aw, thanks! (and donβt think I *donβt* always have a Steph as Steph on her own terms pitch, ready to go)
Shoutout to @bryanqmiller.bsky.socialΒ for writing what I consider to be the definitive Stephanie Brown. His 2009-2011 Batgirl book made me fall in love with her and made me feel seen in ways I'm still unpacking.
What would you want Stephanie Brownβs identity to be? How should she step into her own hero story after all these years? Iβm curious to hear your thoughts. SΒ #LostGenerationProblem #DCComics
Iβd love to see her develop a superhero identity that truly reflects her: hopeful, passionate, morally clear. She could be Gothamβs North Star, their Cardinal direction, guiding the Bat-Family, inspiring the next generation, and finally being Stephanie Brown, fully realized.
With @tatebrombal.bsky.socialΒ taking over New Titans #33, Stephanieβs joining the team. This could be her chance to finally grow on her own terms, defining herself, not inheriting someone elseβs legacy.
Stephanieβs story is perfect for a teen hero coming-of-age arc. She needs the equivalent of Dick Graysonβs Nightwing journey: finding an identity beyond Robin, stepping into her own role, and earning her place in Gothamβs vigilante world.
Spoiler was created to βspoilβ her fatherβs schemes. Robin was a role she inherited when Tim stepped away. Batgirl? A mantle she took after Cassandra Cain abandoned it. Sheβs Batgirl now, but the ongoing Batgirl title is still about Cassandra. Sheβs incredible, but never herself.
Stephanie Brown is one of Gothamβs most compelling young heroes, and one of my personal favorites. But sheβs never really had her own identity. Spoiler, Robin, Batgirl, sheβs stepped into other peopleβs shoes. What if she finally stepped into herself?
Writers: whatβs the weirdest thing youβve ever had to research for a story?
This week on Most Writers Are Fans, mystery author Lee Clark talks about her research and where she finds it.

I wish I could tell you, man.
Scheduling this in case the world doesnβt endβ¦ but if it does, I guess lesson plans were pointless anyway.
I really can't believe no one told me about the rapture. There are people selling their cars because it's today. Iβm just here writing lesson plans like an idiot.
I hate it when ADHD makes you forget the important things. Can you believe I forgot the rapture is tomorrow?
I may have hated her villain costume in Countdown, but thereβs got to be some reason her first instinct was a pink reverse mohawk. I want to know what it is!
Mary Marvel is such a complex character whose characteristics were washed away in the New 52 reboot. Rebirth gives us a chance to finally fix that.
Iβd love to see her go on a magic adventure that crosses paths with a plethora of DC Characters (Zatanna, Constantine, Black Alice, Detective Chimp, I could go on). We could see her investigate this mystery and allow her to discover her own value beyond her siblings.
I would love to see her go on a mission to take the lead in her family for once, but also find herself along the way. Iβd love to see something like, the Marvel family has lost their connection to the wizard Shazam and, for some reason, Mary is the only one who still has powers.
She made deals with Black Adam, she saved the Greek Gods, and got powers from them. She even had a heel turn when Infinite Crisis came around (with an unfortunate costume change. It was the 2000s, we knew better, but we kept doing it).
The first time I really started paying attention to Mary Marvel was during Countdown. She lost her powers and went on a search to get them back.
Mary Marvel is a character designed to be Billy Batsonβs backup. She was never meant to be a main character, and I really think thatβs a shame. She deserves her time in the sun, or lightning, if you will.
The key to being an author with ADHD is accepting that itβs o.k. to have an outline.
During the month of September, I will be donating 50% of my book sales to The Trevor Project. Please help me and some really cool author colleagues raise money for a great cause!
The Big 2 really do love making characters with the last name Drake queer (Iceman, Robin). Who do you think will be next? π Dinah, maybe?
Do you have a favorite Lost Generation character? Iβll start: Iβm always looking for more Stephanie Brown and Bunker in my life.
I love new characters, but itβs not fair to the readers for them to disappear. I sincerely hope DC and Marvel can figure out ways to use these Lost Generation characters. Iβll be giving them ideas every week, in case theyβre interested.
It doesnβt have to be this way. Marvel has shown how young heroes can be utilized effectively with Kamala Khan and Miles Morales. Editorial pushed for them to consistently have books and effectively included them in teams.
I started reading comics just before DCβs 52 series came out. This is a prime example. Jamie Reyes and Kate Kane were both created as exciting new diverse characters, but it became apparent that DC editorial had no clear plans for them after 52.
