Chaozu No1 Fan!

Apologies i re-checked the dates. Early/mid Namek/Freeza arc.

Chapter 1 and elements of 2 but kinda its own version of it. Besides the obvious Maron inclusion, another easter egg im wondering on is if his police buddies are early designs of the two gunmen in the Boo arc, especially the young one. OVA made them look different, but for the manga im convinced.

, like if Cooler and a weird version of Cell fused... and if something like that already exists in Heroes well.. oops. I couldnt get subtitles to show on the internet archive video, but that could be a user issue. Regardless, from what I can tell the OVA seems to be loosely following....

The three manga chapters were a fun little side story that has classic Toriyama written all over it. I wonder how he felt gettign to do this during the end of the Freeza arc (based on the dates in Manga Theater) I particularly like Cashman's design...

Probably not gonna have time to watch both episodes before the time, but will make sure i watch them anyway in preparation for next time. One thing I specifically remember about these episodes I wanted to throw in, where did Piccolo and Kuririn get the pink contacts?

Also Vegeta scenes are nice, albeit a bit obssessive, but that IS Vegeta. Maron, Yajirobe, and Karin somehow work well together as cut away jokes. Also, I find it amusing that Garlic Jr refers to Gohan as “Son of Son Goku”. Not sure how many others say that throughout the franchise…

Fun things I noticed: I believe Gohan kills more just in this arc than in the entire manga canon. I can only
Think of 2, (some one keep em honest) Cell and the Freeza soldier when they first arrive on Namek. Unless we are counting Cell Jrs… then it might be a tie between filler kills and canon kills

It’s been fun revisiting these episodes because I can’t remember the last time I watched them. These episodes are kinda the last two I remember somewhat enjoying. Fighting at God’s Lookout is what makes this arc kinda unique, I don’t really count what happens with Boo later, because it’s kinda quick

Slight Fact Check/Update: I looked up about this marathon. Supposedly they did show the first 3 DBZ movies during it. But 108 was still the only EPISODE they showed whenever DBZ was on the block. toonami.fandom.com/wiki/Toonami...

it would then play just that same episode all day whenever DBZ came on during that block. I specifically remember them playing other Sailor Moon and Gundam WIng episodes, but for DBZ it was JUST 108... everytime... i understand it was newly airing, but i would have liked a bit of variety.

I think the one thing that these episodes, specifically 108, remind me of is this Saturday Toonami all day marathon they showed Toonami shows for 24 hours, episode 108 aired for the first time during this and then when DBZ played again 2-3 hours later... same episode...
