Tired of filling your heart with fear, indignation and hate? Good. Welcome back to real life.

This platform and X are interchangeable for me. Both have extremism and hate speech. Both think they are uncensored and that moderation is awesome. Only difference on here is that people lecture you then block you if you dissent and on X you get trolled.

Let's remember that nature doesn't impose trade barriers. Take a break from divisive debates and immerse yourself in the untaxed beauty of NZs forests and streams. 🌿✨ #NatureOverPolitics #TariffFreeZone #Whakarewarewa #Notai

2025 will be a year of increasingly parallel realities. I vote to be with the kind people.

As AI heads up the scale of consciousness my wish for 2025 is that we do too.

Yes! Self righteous moral politics pathologised into murderous extremism. The ultimate end for call out and grievance culture. If public shaming doesn't work why not just end them? How do we innovate to restructure healthcare access if there is zero critical thinking and just hate?

Yes. How awesome to see so many posts reveling in murder and recommending killing people because they don't sit in the right ideology. Just what somebody leaving X because of extremism wants.

I am curious why BlueSky suddenly has streams of anti-gun content only a week after streams of people hero-worshipping a murderer who also used a gun! Both had manifestos btw. You don't get to switch compassion on and off because it suits politically. It's all ghastly and wrong

I wonder if this was happening when Trump was in power whether the people of New Jersey were "screetching" or hailed as folk heroes fighting against the machine?

Doing AI literacy involves robust critique plus skills training. In my experience AI haters think you are in the pocket of tech companies and blind to issues and AI addicts think you are a luddite or conspiracy nut if you criticise it in anyway or just ignore anything you say that isn't positive.

The Guardian view on AI’s power, limits, and risks: it may require rethinking the technology OpenAI’s new ‘o1’ system seeks to solve the limits to growth but it raises concerns about control and the risks of smart machines

Controlling AI? "In testing, when the system was led to believe it would be shut down, it attempted to disable an oversight mechanism. When “o1” found memos about its replacement, it tried copying itself and overwriting its core code. Creepy? Absolutely."

Biased biometric surveillance, malicious bots dominating web traffic and fake socials rarking up discontent and division (plus military integration). And that is just the last couple of years of machine learning at level 1 . Now we are at level 2 moving to 3 + agentised systems. So yes:-(

Man hand delivers letters around the world to emphasise the importance of human connection. His creativity and kindness was inspired by his father who died of motor neurone disease. I read this and thought wow we need more of this in the world right now!

I've seen some fake right wing commentator profiles set up with their name and picture to troll them in homophobic racist ways. Am interested to see if moderation works!

I'm disturbed by the comments around this issue among others. I switched out of X so I could have less ideologically fueled blind hate and more constructive, critically aware dialogue. It took a few weeks but in amongst the cat photos I am seeing the sameold crap. Just from the left.

I left X because of hate-filled angry posts blinded by ideology. Now I am seeing the same toxic energy here at #bluesky. I'm hoping its fake accounts because being joyful someone was killed and stomping down other people's identity is not cool no matter whether you are left or right.

When AI out ranks all of us we need to keep acknowledging rank and power difference while ALSO celebrating the basic elements we have in common as humans. Like our souls.

A bottle of water per email: the hidden environmental costs of using AI chatbots AI needs a lot of electricity and water to stay cool in data centers. We break down the toll prompt-by-prompt to show the scale of AI’s environmental needs.

A 100 word email in ChatGPT equals around 500mls of water.

What are companies doing to offset their water consumption while using generative AI?
