Realized some little while back that I've got essentially 2 versions of my fursona: fantasy sun cat, and the Tired one I doodle on post-its :) Making some updated reference sheets for my own fun now!
Two afghan hound designs I made a few years back on commission-- still fond of these loooong dogs ๐ฅฐ
A childhood drawing of the artist drawing herself as an anthropomorphic cat. The cat kid has a ponytail and a visor.
The artist's current fursona, an anthropomorphic cat. She has golden markings and no hair.
I want to see everyone's first fursonas again, compared with their current! Did anything change or did you stay the same? ;)
The first drawing I could specifically find for my own self as an anthro animal is from when I was 9 or 10.... 26 years on, I remain feline.

And true, I've never drawn a cetacean ๐ฒ
So true, I have some old spider designs I would love to bring from my sketchbook to the screen...
What animals do y'all like which you don't see drawn as anthros as much as you'd like? ๐ฑ

Absolutely thrilled to share this newly completed commission, a labor of love for Arganalth! When a client has suggestions and inspiration, the final outcome is a wonderful collaboration.
This is the most gold leaf I've used on a piece so far, with stunning results!

Sadly my experience is both outdated and colored by the fact that I wasn't a real attendee! But my impression is that it's completely unlike Illuxcon or similar. Maybe more like an event for a particular section of industry?
I took a much different direction in my career into brand studio/marketing, and.... I haven't heard ICON mentioned since.
I was a student volunteer for ICON over a decade ago; my hazy memory of the conference was a social gathering for publishing, zines, Matt Groening was there. I don't recall vendors, and little to no genre contingent. But that was 2012, when there was a VERY specific Society of Illustrators vibe!
