But they also brought also a lot of amazing experiences with waterfall, caves visits, and a lot of #ochre experimentations !

These two last weeks brought a lot of opportunities for students to discover different fields: lithics knaping, butchery, hide processing, ochre surveys, microfauna and macrofauna studies...
Already the end of fieldwork for me. The two last weeks have gone in a blink of an eye. They brought a lot of discoveries at Boomplaas: beautiful lithics, some organic remains, a lot of faunal remains and of course some ochre.
As the site is now closed the team stays 5 more days in the lab.
Throug the week-end the team assisted to the first #ochre and paleofire workshops, and a nice day on the beach to rest a bit and collect some quartzite for the future knapping workshop.
Our two southern African masters students working on #ochre M. Sepamo and P. T. Alfeus collected their raw material for their experimentation and started to learn how to describe them. @justinpargeter.bsky.social @leakeyfoundation.org and PAST.
Second week is over. While first week focused on launching this season dig and field lab, second week led us to some rock art sampling, #ochre outcrop sampling, exciting finds on the dig 🤩 .
