A new generation of birth control skeptics leans right More young women are embracing fertility tracking methods long popular among Catholics, looking to influencers, questioning doctors — and finding a home in MAGA.

Casey Means’ Surgeon General confirmation hearing is tomorrow.

Means holds a number of extremely disturbing views, including that hormonal birth control is “disrespect for life”.

She isn’t a “fringe” or “alternative” healthcare provider. She is a person who blithely ignores scientific facts.

Urashima Tarō on the Dragon Turtle
This dynamic 19th-century ukiyo-e woodblock print by Utagawa Kuniyoshi illustrates the legendary tale of Urashima Tarō. The central figure, a young fisherman with a topknot, is shown in a vigorous pose as he rides atop a massive, mythical dragon turtle (minogame). He is dressed in a striking cobalt-blue kimono adorned with white geometric patterns, worn over a pale undergarment with an intricate maze-like design. Tarō holds a long, slender fishing rod over his shoulder and clutches a black lacquered box (tamatebako), which figures prominently in his tragic legend. The dragon turtle beneath him is rendered with teal scales and a powerful, toothy expression, its most remarkable feature being a thick, flowing tail of seaweed that sweeps upward like a mane of dark fire.

Just a reminder that Brendan Carr wrote a chapter of Project 2025, even though that violates the law which prohibits gov't officials from using their positions for political advocacy like that. www.techdirt.com/2024/07/23/f...

I wonder if NYT would use this framing if Trump weren't suing them for $15 billion

although he says MAGA is part of a culture war splitting the US at the behest of the wealthy, Max Blumenthal was on Alex Jones's show just three days ago conspiracy theorizing about the Charlie Kirk assassination and all manner of things.
you have to be an absolute fool to believe any of these ppl.

Let's talk the fashwoo crowd's favorite thing, ancient health practices.

The Inuit are careful never to eat the livers of polar bears or bearded seals, because they know that hypervitaminosis A will kill you. Skin peels off, bones dissolve, you rot while you're alive. One of the worst ways to die.

Online ‘Pedophile Hunters’ Are Growing More Violent — and Going Viral (Gift Article) With the rise of loosely moderated social media platforms, a fringe vigilante movement is experiencing a dangerous evolution.

A decade ago "Occupy Pedophilia" vigilantism operated in Russia much the same as Dads against Predators. They ostensibly target predators but almost exclusively entrap gay men NOT BREAKING LAWS. It's happening here too, but NYT fails to mention that part of the story www.nytimes.com/interactive/...

What you have to understand about Pete Hegseth copying and pasting war plans into Signal is that it almost certainly means he’s got classified documents on his personal UNSECURE devices. Signal isn't on a secure device...are our war plans on his personal devices? @jeffreygoldberg.bsky.social

Its an argument i heard from people who worked in bars or were musicians. It sure made going to live music shows better. Same, congratulations on quitting smoking. It's really hard.

Oh, home's. No, I wouldn't support that. It's wrong to smoke around children ( or indoors, makes the house stink), but I don't think CPS putting kids in foster care is going to improve kids' health either. Has to be a better way.

I supported bans on smoking in businesses, bars, cafes in my state when I was still a smoker. Worker's right issue, exposure to hazardous materials. And I smoked outside at home.

Does this ban pertain to households or businesses? Guess I dhould read article

Must be something in UK water, something no longer treatable due to Brexit.

Why do women in UK think anyone should listen to an island that choose to politically and economically impoverish themselves?

If Trump and Musk were trying to weaken the United States and sell it to its foreign enemies, how would they act any differently from the way they're acting now?

Not at all, you say? Maybe you should wonder why that is.
