Tether reported an all-time high investment in U.S. Treasuries at $97.6 billion via direct and indirect exposure as of July 31. This positions Tether as one of the largest holders of U.S. Treasuries in the world, ranking third after the UK and Cayman Islands. They are literally unstoppable now.
As of November 24, 2024, Tether (USDT) has reached a market cap of $132.22 billion, surpassing Citigroup and positioning itself as the 142nd largest entity globally by market capitalization. 100 ish employees.
This stuff is REALLY powerful tech with an incredible product market fit. I've been building toward using it for AI Agents for YEARS now. There's still some missing pieces and I am pretty slow. Most of the lib/left won't even look at this stuff because reasons, but it's quietly taking over.
Tether digital dollars have progressed from an alarmingly shonky quasi-scam run by twelve people in a tax haven to core global FinTech.
Cantor Fitzgerald, led by Trumps new commerce secretary invested. Lutnick owns 30% of Cantor, so a member of the Trump cabinet now has 1.5% ownership of Tether.
LOTS more detail on the DOJ antitrust aroung Google. The Vergecast does a great job of explaining the wild potential ramifications, which could meaningfully be the end of Google.

Wait.... OpenAI will buy it...
More to the point if they squirm round it there's the looming threat to make them divest Android and who would buy THAT? Presumably the Chinese would scoop it up. Wild times.
[snigger] still looks like a willy.

Serious, next level, WTF is this version of the simulation up to now. You can hate it, but can anyone actually fight it any more?

It's a shame it's become political, and so lazily too. I am going to take the positive from it; that both sides of the pool of america wealth snapping up the supply might have been net negative. It's most useful as a truly global asset on a longer timescale. Nothing is likely to actually stop it.
I note bluesky SMASHED those svg down. Find on the github link if you're curious.
One of the best insights I have come across in GenAI development is the use of diagrams as code. This is about 1000 lines of densely packed information for my latest project, which can be used to preload a context window each time.
You can see these in context here.

The clip of Ben Affleck wading lucidly into the AI / creator debate. It's been blowing up, but not here. This is the CNBC link so it's correctly attributed.
