I do also take issue with the phrase “Teenage Man.” It’s part of that same predatory marketing. Playing on everyone’s desire to feel more responsible, more autonomous.

I think for a lot of these boys they’re just asking “how should I be?” Which is a natural question for a teenager. The problem is that the likes of the Tates and Jordan Peterson are spending loads of money to answer their question with “Be more masculine.”

I don’t disagree with any of the points made in this thread and yet i wonder if you’re not having a different discussion than the teenager in the original article is having. Hard to say based on just a headline and a couple but it doesn’t read like he’s concerned with being “more masculine.”

Parted with my digitone 1 a few years ago. I miss when that and a drum machine were all I had and the pull to get the new one is so tempting.

I am also inclined to think that they believe the services are necessary but they want to cripple the government to create business opportunities for themselves.

I understand that globally the US doesn’t seem as corrupt as other parts of the world but I’ve always felt the CPI does not accurately account for the fact that lobbying has rendered American democracy non existent for decades. And everyone can see it’s getting worse.

I suppose one should not put it past Musk to be bad at business but I feel like losing the credit overwhelmingly helps his competitors. Foreign made EVs like Hyundai, Kia, and Volkswagen are matching the subsidy with instant rebates. If the subsidy goes away that’s profit back in their pockets.

Lucky for that company, their CEO runs the government.
