here’s a crazy fact: more Americans have been killed in disputes over parking spots than on the NYC subway this year

the more actual harm caused by a petroleum supply shock, the funnier it will be that some of trump's first actions was making it significantly more expensive to buy solar and EVs. Im sorry but its so, so, so funny

Someone looking at a gravestone says "I miss you dad. I wish I got more time with you."

The ground around the grave begins to shift. "Oh my god" says the speaker.

A hand emerges from the dirt.

A thin, bald man with a long protuberance of a nose, soaking wet, pulls himself from the dirt proclaiming "why yes, it is I, Wet Nude Steve. You've caught me while I've been out tunneling around, experiencing worm pleasures. One of my naughtiest indulgences.
Perhaps you would like to explore with me?"

Airbnb Says More Short-Term Rentals Will Boost L.A.’s Budget. Opponents Say It Won’t Work. Stricter enforcement could bring in millions as Olympics approach, housing advocates counter.

As Los Angeles gears up for a surge of tourists for this year’s FIFA World Cup and the 2028 Olympics, vacation rental giant Airbnb is urging the city of Los Angeles to legalize thousands of new short-term rentals.

Dear Council President Payne, Council Vice President Osman and Council Members:
This letter is to inform you that I have vetoed Ordinance No. 2026-002 to extend the pre-eviction notice for
renters to 60 days. I understand the authors’ intent, but the experience from COVID-19 and guidance from
shelter and affordable housing providers shows that this strategy has not worked. We have heard over and over
again from shelter and affordable housing providers that longer timelines produce worse outcomes for
residents. In their words, when rental assistance isn’t available, time is a debt trap that becomes a barrier to
securing future housing.
I heard a call for more financial assistance, and I believe that is the best path forward. Rental assistance is
working and getting to renters quickly – rent collections are better in 2026 than 2025. That’s why I’m proposing
to spend $1 million from the Affordable Housing Trust Fund for emergency rental assistance administered
through Hennepin County.
While a 60-day pre-eviction notice period sounds good, there is no data to show that it does good. Pandemic
era eviction moratorium allowed many renters to accumulate huge amounts of debt that they are still paying off
today. When property owners carry the losses, the housing system experiences upward pressure on rents to
replenish reserves, catch up on missed mortgage, insurance, utility, payroll, and property tax payments, and
cover increased costs associated with deferred maintenance.
I believe most landlords are working with tenants to develop payment plans and access rental assistance. But for
bad actors, I worry that the proposal gives them reasons to report tenants to ICE or use minor lease violationswhich don’t require as much notice and are harder to expunge – to evict tenants.
We will continue to monitor the data. If something substantially changes, I am committed to working with the

I cannot stop laughing at this absolutely delusional timeline! As noted in the report, just getting Coastal Commission approval will take at least a year.

You know what already has Coastal Commission approval? THE 100% AFFORDABLE HOUSING PROJECT PLANNED FOR THIS PARKING LOT

Councilmember Traci Park just got the city's transportation committee to advance a mobility hub for 2028 at the site of the Venice Dell housing project she's been trying to block.

Among the many issues with this plan, here's a big one β€” Metro does not show a mobility hub planned for this site

Drone strikes in Haiti.
Drone strikes. In Haiti.
By private contractors.
They’re killing Haitians for private profit & the world barely pays attention.
The story of Haiti is the story America likes to tell about itself. Except there, it’s true. And the west has never stopped punishing Haiti for it

If you're scared of protesting or a general strike because you could lose your job, healthcare, and housing, or even go to jail, now you understand why the US has no universal healthcare or housing and no guaranteed parental leave, but DOES have the largest prison and police system on planet Earth.

Okay I guess I'm not sure I understand. The idea is that, gas prices have skyrocketed because of Trump's incredibly expensive and unpopular war. So, the Democrats will lower gas prices, which will make the war more expensive, and also more popular?

That this war with Iran is unpopular in a way never before recorded in American history has seen remarkably little attention from the press

My neighbor told me Iranian mines keep eating his ships so I asked how many ships he has and he said he just goes to the port and gets a new ship afterwards so I said it sounds like he's just feeding ships to mines and then his daughter started crying.

It’s genuinely insane how many cop dramas hinge on the idea that Internal Affairs is an omnipresent, suffocating entity trying to ruin cops’ lives for being too damn good at their job when in real life we get a steady drip of videotaped executions that don’t even go to trial.
