Hey all I'm looking for work!
I'm experienced in character design and costume for games and film as well as illustration for books and TTRPGS. I'm based out of BC Canada looking for freelance or full time. My portfolio is linked in the first comment, thank you for shares!

the existence of original sin clearly implies sin 2, or at least sin remastered
Sometimes I wonder how much I hated Florida vs how much Florida hated me.
extremely relatable

The mezzanine above Osaka station (where you get views like this) is one of the most magical places on earth 😭
(I imagine one of the problems is just convincing americans that you can soundproof that well)
will never forget @holz-bau.bsky.social pointing out how sideyard setbacks create dark window canyons with neighbor windows pointing directly at eachother a few feet away. Kind of an "aha' moment that sharing neighbor walls (w/ sound proofing) means *more* privacy and light.
anyways whatever. hopefully when the crash happens this kind of thing will get wiped out if for no other reason than negative consumer sentiment
or maybe they actually did hook it up, or maybe there is a way to run it which makes this not costly to do millions of times. but it's just kind of mind numbing the degree to which companies are spending money to make simple things worse and stupider
specifically, if each request incurs a cost, wouldn't it be so wildly stupid to *actually* hook up this feature to an LLM and not just use dumb old stuff?
I know there are probably lots of examples of companies calling a regular algorithm AI, but this feels like a costly skinning exercise
so how much do we think a lot of platforms are skinning features (not just false labeling but *skinning* them) that don't use LLMs as AI?
For example, clicked "price history" on an item on amazon and it pops up an "AI" assistant. But this seems less advanced than simple chatbots from 10 years ago.

I’ve only been to GDC once, with no pass and spent the majority of the time in Yerba Buena meeting some of the coolest people I know in person for the first time. Maybe there’s some nuance here but it sure *feels* like what squeezing the life out of something would look like
“What should I read what you didn’t bother to write” etc.
Generally the only people I have seen who make the argument about the process similarity are people trying to justify why the training datasets are moral (because it’s just like what humans do!), every argument against is about the human context
Maybe there is some academic fight about whether the processes are different or not but the main reason in my circles people are upset is the theft of work and removal of human element with no consent, compensation or acknowledgment
Is that what people are upset about? That’s not what the people I know are upset about.
that said I am glad to work in indie because I get to both do some concept art that pleases my specialist brain while also getting to touch editor side stuff.
Sylvia plath bell jar quote etc.
(not to mention "what if I played around with composing some music? I should also practice actually writing more. Maybe some short comics would be a fun thing to do that would also improve my design and narrative tastes...")
I hope some day I can overcome analysis paralysis of what to spend my time on. When I have a block, it'll be like "30 mins of C# in godot... but should I focus on improving my sense of character design instead? or doing a UI mockup? What if I did 3d instead of 2d. I should use RPGMaker. no, pico-8."
of course! I am just a visual tinkerer in this space so it's fun to see how other people are solving things!
(my solution was I probably should probably start with a simple 2d game and avoid the problem completely 😱)
