Irreparable Parables, by Andrew Wasylyk 10 track album

Not only is it Bandcamp Friday, it is release day for Andrew Wasylyk's new album "Irreparable Parables" on which his lush instrumentals are augmented by vocals from six guest singers; another impeccable release from Clay Pipe Music

Bandcamp Friday today, so a little thread of retored/curated very old mostly cylinder recordings I've put up.

First, the king of the banjo (as a lead instrument) and Ragtime pioneer, Vess L. Ossman!

β€˜At first, she couldn’t come off the oxygen long enough’: the film that gives Marianne Faithfull one final thrilling performance In new docu-drama Broken English, the much misunderstood singer looks back at all her past selves – and gives a performance that moves her audience to tears. Its makers relive an extraordinary shoot

Faithfull grows sombre when shown a clip of herself at 60 declaring that she loved being that age, feeling healthy and philosophical about things. β€œNow I’m less philosophical. I hate what’s happened to me. Covid did this.”’

I was going to redo the Jen SX1000 i have in this as there are some scratchy distorted in a bad way pots on mine, but maybe i'll leave it there.

There's some falling downstairs perucssion in there too.

I just opened up an older laptop to look for something and found this in the recent file history. I have a fair amount of stuff from the pandemic and afterwards in various states of disrepair.

Another bit that accompanies the outro of this is actually quite sweet and needs some more work.

A good friend of mine was born in 1976. To commemorate this momentous occasion, I have spent the last six months or so listening to 13,000+ songs/43+ days of music that was all released (or intended for release) in '76. I have been curating, mixing, and tweaking the best 13 days of those sounds across 21 unique mixtapes, and I will be releasing these mixes throughout 2026 in her honour. Hippy bopday, DeirDre!

Watch Return to the Edge of the World - BFI Player Michael Powell makes a moving return trip to the remote island of Foula, forty years after he shot his first major feature there.

In 1978 Michael Powell and John Laurie returned to Foula, the island where they filmed "The Edge of the World" forty years previously. It's a beautiful documentary - one of my favourites - and you can watch it for free via BFI Player here. player.bfi.org.uk/free/film/wa...
