This looks absolutely incredible!
This looks absolutely incredible!
Give yourself some credit! Not only is it luck, but someone has also seen the value of your hard work!
It is a privilege indeed
Since I started with game design I've tried to define what the fuck it actually entails. And honestly.. I still don't know, but I think that I've boiled it down to two words:
Empathy & Intuition.
Like, there's a million things adjacent to Design, but you really only *need* these two skills..or?
Wonderful that you share your story!
I think getting into any creative field is gonna be a lot of hard work that may not feel "worth it" until you manage to get a position that will pay your bills. But when you do, that hard work really feels rewarding.
While I tend to agree with you I think a game like V-Rising needs the "incremental stat boost" so that a person with Tier-2 items don't completely steamroll someone with Tier-1 items, and seeing how the game is designed with PVP in mind that becomes an important aspect of it!
It's been very nice to work with during solo projects and gamejams.
I did find that their merge tool was quite subpar, but I haven't had any other issues with it!
seeing talking about nanite and lumen because of popular ue5 games all looking the same burns my mood like nothing else π
not even because of whatever discourse at the time is going on it just reminds me of my old job
I know this is not like a hot take but game jams fucking rock.
I'd love to host something larger if Timezones weren't a thing.
Had a small jam this weekend, if you're interested in the submissions ya got a link here:

Would probably start with the nodes, scenes and what happens from start to finish of a play session! .. but isn't it inevitable to end up in the source code at some point? :b
I appreciate the resource! Will be sure to check it out
Debating taking the plunge into learning Godot (for like the millionth time), do y'all have any cool tips and/or tips on understanding how the engine is structured and maybe something to think about from someone who has primarily worked in Unreal until this point?
participated in #globalgamejam this year and it was a blast! kinda didn't fuck with the theme but we managed to get something cool going regardless:

Would love to see more of the plugin when it's ready :D
Games of all engine release in broken and unoptimized states. Unreal is not a inherent problem, it's a tool just like Unity, Godot, Gamemaker or any other engine. There are also great and optimized games being released using UE5!
Personally I think the issue lies more in company culture than tools.
Yooo, this looks sick! Love the art style so much!
James Hannah. Depluralise a film. I'll start. Jaw. @benjaminjudge A Crow on the Orient Express
One comes up for a quick nibble and then retreats back into the pitch-black
Rats.
Yesterday I started adding steaming-hot geysers and accompanying lilypad platforms! I also implemented a "lilypad seed" that can be used to grow your own platforms on water and geysers.
Is this a clever way to introduce the seed mechanic?

Best of luck!

If you want a great resource for learning UI development in Unreal (and other cool tips and tricks) I recommend checking out benui.ca. He even has a video called "Intro to making UIs in Unreal Engine 5" and I think he is one of the most consistent sources I've used!
Crazy how far graphics have come in recent years π§ π₯
Super cute game, bound to be up someone's alley..and if nobody else than at least in mine :)
If you enjoy using it it's not a waste of money.
Alright! I'll check them out.
Thanks for answering some of my questions, and I wish you and the team the best of luck with the project π
