Ooh it's so pretty ๐
Ooh it's so pretty ๐
Me: omg I can't believe I've hit 100k on this draft, I think I've only got two chapters until it's finished. Well, two or three.
Husband: you... think? You do know how it ends right?
Me: ๐ฌ
H: right?!

Just hit 100k on the first draft of Witchy WIP officially making this the longest first draft I've ever written #WritingCommunity
I'm a discovery writer, so yes, my first draft is just highly detailed, agonising, time-consuming plan #WritingCommunity
Just wrote the climactic chapter of Witchy WIP.
I feel pretty good about it, but there are now so many things I need to go back and foreshadow... #WritingCommunity
I don't know what it is. I can be so excited about a show and lose all enthusiasm as it approaches the end. Like if I don't watch the last episode it won't ever be over?
As someone who struggles to watch the last episode of a TV show (what is that about?) I probably should have expected that I'd find it difficult to write act 3 of Witchy WIP #WritingCommunity
Having to remind myself to slow down as I get into the third act of Witchy WIP #eeeeeeeee #WritingCommunity
I have still had those moments with this WIP, but they have felt surmountable which has made all the difference.
Oo that is a good sign!
I haven't published either. I've finished a few things but again, they never felt like the right things. I'm hoping the enthusiasm won't die when I go back to revise this one.
I've started and abandoned so many WIPs over the years, always believing I was writing 'the one'. I don't know how to explain it, but Witchy WIP felt different from the start.
How do you know when you're working on a novel you're going to finish?
#WritingCommunity
Some writing sessions I hope the twins wake early from their nap because damn I am SUFFERING for this chapter #WritingCommunity
Pantser?
People use multiple things?!
The fact that these plot points are falling into place as if I planned any of them is quite frankly a miracle #WritingCommunity
Yup and when I say two hours I mean one of them sleeps for two the other wakes up after 1 on a bad day. The tube is an interesting place to write. Lots of inspiration there I imagine ๐
I think it's probably better than shoe-horning it in?
Desperately during the one 2 hour nap that my twins take a day, if I'm lucky.
Feeling a little dishevelled after writing that scene ๐ฅต #writingcommunity #romantasy
I'm not sure where this first draft is or what I'm doing right now. Just gotta trust the discovery writer process I guess ๐ตโ๐ซ #WritingCommunity
At this point, this WIP is being fuelled by tea and leftover christmas chocolate #amwriting #WritingCommunity
And either having to grit your teeth and keep going on or nip back and change it which creates a whole cascade of ick
Equally as pantsy is rereading the first act of the first draft after you've written 70k words and going, 'ooooh that's where I left the plot.'
#WritingCommunity
Pantsing is getting 70k words into your fantasy novel before going, 'oooh that's where the plot's been hiding.'

Does anyone else feel like writing a novel is like playing tetris?
Story pieces everywhere, they keep changing shape, none of them fit, there are so many holes, and it gets progressively harder!
#WritingCommunity
Thinking about writing actually helps me get to sleep. I just scamper off into another world ๐
That's so exciting! I can't wait to get to that stage. I know it's tricky and the imposter syndrome is so real but you are amazing. Let me know if you're ever looking for a beta reader ๐
Yeah that does sound scary and from what I've heard it doesn't get easier. Is this the first draft you've gotten this far with?
I love this for you though because you actually have something to query and that's got to feel good? It feels good right? Right?!
The thing with only being able to write for 1-2 hours a day is I spend the rest of my time critiquing what I've just written in my head ๐
Sometimes helpful. Sometimes really not...
