2. The Deep Blue team revised their code in between rounds and didn't share their code with Kasparov's team, both very much against the rules in modern John Henry-style games. So the first defeat of a human world champion without an asterisk didn't happen until 2006 (Kramnik vs. Deep Fritz).

The 3 (not 3+) happens to occupy just the right historical spot in the lineup to run all RPi OSes, from oldest to newest. This makes it afaik the fastest RPi that can talk to some interesting older hardware, for example Kinect clones.
