It's sometimes good for the soul to make use of the local bus services ... if only to make one grateful for owning a car!

Snowdrops, bluebells, daffodils and crocuses ... I love the lead in to Spring! ❤️
youtu.be/uPsKp5Dxu-o?... one of my favourite films. Never ages, never grow tired of watching. Even the bad times are good. Someone said ... if you weren't in love with Robert Redford before you saw this film, you soon would be afterwards. I'd just add, and in love with Barbra Streisand, too.
On some recent issues, I'm starting to see more eye to eye with the FT's Janan Ganesh than I'd ever imagined... "Because he dresses like a cartoon Englishman of the counties, the extent to which Farage is a creature of the US has been overlooked by the public."
Happy Thursday! Status update:
Love Nouvelle Vague, such a unique sound. But this hauntingly beautiful song is, by far, my favourite. Used as the theme to the heartbreaking story of Daniel Pearl. 💔❤️

Post-Commonwealth Day Service: late afternoon walk through a beautiful sunny London. China Town, Soho & early dinner at the Ivy (not original!) check out excellent & affordable 1917 menu. Finally, The Devil Wears Prada: spectacular sets, costumes & Vanessa Williams! V busy day, need to recuperate!
Great #CommonwealthDayService
Also met Floella Benjamin - who looks younger as every day passes, and the ever gracious Thomas Forrester from Bargain Hunt! AND ... the Commonwealth Games mascot! Too shy to ask Gyles for a picture and Keir Starmer managed to escape me.🤭🙄😬
OMG! Just met Oti and her husband ... what a lovely lady, what a gorgeous husband, what a cute couple! They exude kindness, fun & genuine affection for each other!
Always say, I could love anyone after listening to them on Desert Island Discs ... didn't think I could love Jessie Buckley any more, but she is just so joyous and sunshine personified! youtu.be/xFs0zcu-if8?...
"I raced today with the power of generations of women who were denied the opportunity."
HAPPY INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY 2026!
OK
Apart from
Imposing tariffs on us
Meddling in our politics
Sueing the BBC
Slagging off our troops in Afghanistan
Being an alleged paedophile
& starting WW3
Pres. Trump is a great ally & Keir Starmer SHOULD start acting like a snivelling shit & support him.
SORT IT OUT STARMER!
Dean our Paperboy announces he is standing for Reform in the next council elections.
‘Why?’ I sadly ask.
‘Mr Anderson has promised me all the Greggs I can eat plus a new BMX & Simple Sally in the village shop is standing too. She’s been promised lots of wood shavings & mince.’😬
The trouble with electing people who are simply not qualified to do their jobs is that, even in the face of the gravest situation that they’ve created, they sound like 14 year old boys playing an online war game.
This is real life & people are dying & Hesgeth, Trump & Leavitt sound excited by it.
The best, the only kind of day! A good book, a cup of tea, peace ... and time!
America: this is decency. This is compassion & intelligence. This is a president!
Nah ... I'd send them to the fronline... any frontline!
Saw The Bowie Experience last night: "not a tribute act, a celebration of the man & his music." Amazing range of songs: a walk thru your own life! Never cool enough to be a Bowie fan in school; partied to Let's dance at bomb shelter discos in Israel; saw him at Wembley. A great sing along event.
Shame on the tories/reform! And ... I think we should bill trump and nutanyahu for all expenses incurred by British citizens & our govt in relation to repatriation. They are entirely responsible for the misery and deaths. Something we should never forget!
How terrifying to be stuck in war-torn Middle East, as a tax exile or transiting flights. Well done tories/reform - when you could be supporting our govt & making practical suggestions for repatriation, you are gleefully trying to score political points BECAUSE YOU CARE SO MUCH about our citizens!
Excellent event for International Women's Day 2026, "Removing barriers, sharing equal futures" led by Julia Gillard interviewing Caitlin Moran. Funny, interesting & optimistic. The brilliant women of the world - together with the lovely men WILL make our society fairer, safer & more equal.❤️
Walk to the Aldwych in almost Spring like conditions ... and ... back in time to a turn-of-the-century, Austrian coffee house ... or, in other words, the beautiful Delauney Counters!
In London for event, so stopped off to visit Wellington's Arch - as you do! Views, modern art, & military campaign in WW1!
Can we keep a tally of every innocent life taken due to this conflict & ensure trump & Netanyahu are held accountable & made to pay.
