The 2026 session may be over, but the impact of the BIPOC Caucus will last beyond it.
Thank you Salem high students for showing up strong for our communities, our families, our neighbors today! I can't think of a better way to end a week that brought important parts of Oregon's immigrant justice package forward. Take action at the link in my bio. Sí, se puede! #orleg #orpol #iceout
Oregon, I hear you loud and clear. NOW is the time to make sure Oregon legislators hear your voices of support too. Take action to protect our communities from ICE violence, submit testimony, and send your emails here: https://loom.ly/2kwctyI #orleg #OrPol
Chúc mừng năm mới!
Happy Lunar New Year from the Oregon Senate. Grateful to all of my colleagues who took a moment on the Senate Floor to celebrate by greeting each other with good wishes for the Year of the Horse. #orleg 🐎
Yesterday, the Oregon Capital Chronicle gave an update on where bills stand in regards to protecting our immigrant and refugee communities. Many of those bills are top priorities of the BIPOC Caucus. #OrPol #orleg
🐴Happy Lunar New Year!🐴
This year is the year of the Horse, which emphasizes energy, freedom, and forward momentum.
Senator Gordly was one of the first Black women and Women of Color in the OR Legislature, and she carried that history with strength, discipline, and deep roots in community. Her legacy shapes how I approach climate, housing, and accountability every day. #orleg #orpol

Oregon lost a great one today.
One of my favorite pandemic memories was participating in outdoor “drive by celebration” in her honor. There would be no Representative Nelson if Senator Avel Louise Gordly hadn’t paved the way.
Rest In Power Senator Gordly. 🙏🏾
Come grab a drink with your state representative!
This Sunday (2/15), I'll be hanging out at two locations:
☕ 12-2 PM: Bow + Arrow Coffeehouse (Damascus)
🍹 3-5 PM: The Daily Planet (Portland)
Bring your questions, concerns, community updates — or just come hang out ☀️
On the House floor, Representatives Shannon Jones Isadore, Travis Nelson, and Lamar Wise spoke up, denouncing the President’s refusal to apologize for the racist video that received backlash from both sides of the political aisle. #orpol #orleg
Just when you thought this guy couldnt go any lower…
Trump is systemic racism personified.
This is why we need a strong voting rights act.
This is why we need strong discrimination protections.
This is why we need to do all that we can to ensure that EVERY AMERICAN has opportunity.
Happy Black History Month!
This year marks 100 years of Black History Month, a century of honoring Black history, culture, leadership, and resilience.
For 100 years, communities have come together to study, honor, and celebrate Black history. Called the “Father of Black History,” historian Carter G. Woodson helped launch this tradition by establishing a dedicated week in February to recognize the achievements and contributions of Black Americans.
In this fraught time, it's inspiring to see Oregon high school students stepping up to discuss and debate our foundational constitutional principles, as they are being tested and under threat like never before. Shout out to the students from McDaniel High School featured!

The Skanner's closure is a profound loss—an irreplaceable Black-owned institution holding power to account & serving communities too often ignored. I’m championing Protect Local Journalism (SB1580) to ensure Big Tech pays its fair share so community media survives & thrives.

Happy first Wise Wednesday of the 2026 session!
Things are moving quickly: we heard the most recent revenue forecast and have been busy since we kicked off on Monday. I'm looking forward to getting as much done as possible during this short session.
Thanks for tuning in!

Today, we announced our policy agenda that responds to the growing concerns of BIPOC Oregonians about the violent and cruel tactics of the Trump administration. In a critical moment for the state, we are ready to meet it head on with bold policy actions.

This legislative session, I'm introducing legislation to help build upon the City of Portland's successes with their Inclusionary Housing program, creating greater flexibility for cities to implement similar programs while installing guardrails to ensure we continue to build more homes. #orleg
Housing and renters: Sen. Khanh Pham is focused on addressing Oregon's chronic shortage of affordable housing with a bill that would establish a revolving loan fund with lower-interest, short-term construction loans for mixed-income developments. Another of her priorities is to guarantee "the right for tenants to opt out of landlords' electronic portals for housing applications and monthly rent checks" in order to ensure accessibility for seniors and Oregonians with disabilities, while limiting online processing fees.
Thank you to @axios.com for covering some of my housing policies for the upcoming 2026 legislative session: #orleg www.axios.com/local/portla...
DHS opened fire in a residential Portland neighborhood, blocks from our District Senator’s home.
That is not public safety.
It is a dangerous abuse of power by a federal agency operating without accountability.
Enough is Enough.

At a critical crossroads, we are ready to meet the moment and show up for Oregonians. That is why for the short session we are committed to bringing forward legislation to protect all of our communities.
In a time when Oregon is being attacked by a hostile federal administration, we stand together in condemning the violence.
By no means do immigration enforcement keep our communities safe. They often accomplish the complete opposite, using racial profiling as a means to detain Oregonians – regardless of citizenship status – and target our most vulnerable communities. We demand that federal agents get out of our state.
We stand with our colleagues, Sen. Jama, Rep. Valderrama, and Rep. Wise, as our state reckons with the reality of two Oregonians shot violently by federal agents. We are heartbroken by this act of brutality, and our thoughts are with loved ones as the victims are hospitalized.
We're gearing up for short session here in Salem. This is just a small sample of what's to come during our 6 week sprint starting February 2. @travisnelson.bsky.social @robnosse.bsky.social @repwillychotzen.bsky.social @orlegbipoc.bsky.social #orleg #orpol #resist #AntiTrump
On the front page of the Oregonian, Reps. @repleslymunoz.bsky.social and @rickiruizor.bsky.social announced the Protect Your Door Act, creating accountability for when federal agents violate the Fourth Amendment rights of Oregonians. #orpol #orleg
