If it makes you feel any better, my brain just decided to remix everything I'm thinking about, and I just thought of RoboCop barging in gun-a-blazin', his fanfare triumphant in its bombast as he blasts all the demons and rescues the kid.
Like, little details about how his family is falling apart waiting for him to wake up, and how his damaged brain interprets them as nightmare imagery.
I (by natural inclination) took the "he's in a dying dream/coma" interpretation, but I actually matched up little details to what would logically be happening outside in the hospital room. I even pinpointed the exact moment his family would be giving up on him waking up and deciding to end his life.
Gout sucks so damn much. I had a nasty gout attack a few years back and I honestly thought I had somehow broken my foot without realizing it.
Especially since my brain was trying to "figure out" the "lore" of "what's actually happening," and it just kept getting sadder and sadder AND SADDER the more sense I made out of it. At a certain point "he's in hell and it's a demon" is actually the more optimistic interpretation.
