Push for gas tax as LNG exports reap huge profits after one week of war Gas prices tripled in 2022, which was the last time an international conflict hit energy markets. Experts say it may happen again due to the Iran war.

This is getting ridiculous! Why are we letting these multinational gas corporations rip every one of us off. Tax the blighters! www.smh.com.au/politics/fed...

Severe heatwave persists in WA as 50C an outside chance Temperatures have sat in the mid-to-high 40s for most of the week across the Pilbara and Gascoyne with little relief in sight.

Or are living in remote, predominantly Indigenous communities, and not so remote. www.abc.net.au/news/2025-02...

Australia had the ‘gold standard’ on gun control. The Bondi beach terror attack may force it to confront its surging number of weapons There are now more guns in the community per capita than in the aftermath of the Port Arthur massacre, with at least 2,000 new firearms lawfully entering the community every week

Apparently reports say the shooters had at least six guns, all purchased legally, that were used commit this atrocity. That is insane. We have dropped the ball on gun laws and they need to be tightened immediately. Why is it so easy to get that kind of weaponry? www.theguardian.com/australia-ne...

Labor’s 5% deposit scheme will only make the banks richer – and that’s the point The government’s new housing policy will see banks pocket billions in extra interest and saddle a generation with more debt

Labor’s 5% deposit scheme will push 🏠 prices up & make the housing crisis worse. Instead: build public & affordable housing, fix CGT & NG taxes & cap rents. There are solutions. www.deepcutnews.com/p/labors-5-d...

‘For every $100 of gas exported, Australia gets 43 cents’: Unions open new tax battle The federal government this week overhauled its superannuation tax reforms. Now the union movement says it should radically overhaul taxes on gas exports.

Dangerous conspiracy theories ‘translate into real-world violence’ The alleged gunman behind Tuesday’s Porepunkah shooting that left two police dead is believed to have been a self-proclaimed sovereign citizen.

Disturbing to think right now the NSW govt is weakening protections against people like this accessing guns in an effort to pander to the shooters party. www.theage.com.au/national/vic...

The people with over $3m in their super can cope if they just cut down on the shop-bought lattes and smashed avocado toast brekkys. Time for another slew of pieces by the journos that wrote those ‘insights’ about young people trying to get a roof over their heads.

Is regulation really to blame for the housing affordability crisis? The government wants to cut red tape to improve housing supply. But homes will only become more affordable if other changes are also adopted, including tax reform.

Interesting piece suggesting the govt's crackdown on 'redtape' is an excuse for not acting more directly on homes policy and rents. Developers landbanking, rent reform and tax reform too hard for timid govt so focusing on this to look like they're getting tough?

Unbelievable that both our major parties have signed up for the clearly dud deal on AUKUS subs. Leaves Australia exposed, cedes our sovereignty over our own defence capability and drains our taxes for our essential needs by $360b for next 20 years. Shocker. Hope we have a plan B #AUKUS #4Corners

How can you have integrity in govt if you make an clear commitment before an election, then turn around and break it when in government? Only one way to restore integrity here. Restore the $12m that was promised to the NT budget. Territory residents sign below. Non NT residents pls share. #Shame

Do you work for a big 4 consultant? Convert that finding into a 20 slide PowerPoint and you could. You’d have to stop giving this quality away for free tho.

Yes it’s part of accepting that there is a solid percentage of people who may just not like or have time or inclination to find out about politics in any depth. So don’t vote based on the same drivers that others do.
