However, Illinois does have a new state-record hailstone (also from Kankakee) with a preliminary maximum size of 6.14 inches

Looks like a 62 kA -CG initial stroke that cascaded into a ~25 mile long flash to the northeast with multiple CG strokes, all within 0.9 seconds.

All 0.5 degree scans from KLOT of the supercell in ILL/IN yesterday evening. Markers show hail reports larger than golf balls and tornado reports as they happened

Tornadoes on May 16, 2025 at Crowder, MO, north of Sikeston. Several simultaneous tornadoes were observed including these twins as it caused damage in Crowder. We made two successful @otusproject.bsky.social drone intercepts, but sadly two lives were lost to this EF3 a few miles downwind.

I'm not sure if there's a defined metric to determine if a CIG 2 (or any risk probability for that matter) "verified". From my perspective, a CIG 2 would entail at least one HE EF3/LE EF4 or multiple EF2 tornadoes, but generally I go based on my own subjective thoughts
