Just pointing out like an awful pedant that this isn't daylight savings time. The summer is daylight savings time. We have returned to standard time. And I love it.
My pleasure! They asked me for more tours next year.
I enjoyed yesterday's tours as the guide, thanks to @irisharchitecturef.bsky.social Open House Day, they enjoyed the visit to the Eavan Boland Library and Nellie's Flat, thanks, IAF.
Watching the canvassers knock on each door in the neighbourhood and bypass my house, not even saying hello, I was in the front garden. I must be on a list somewhere, DEAF HOUSE, DO NOT BOTHER WITH THIS PERSON,. It happens quite regularly to Deaf people at election time. I know who NOT to vote for.

I've been thinking about that quote a lot recently.
Gallarus Oratory on a sunny day on the Dingle Peninsula
One of my favourite places on the Dingle Peninsula, Gallarus Oratory, is always worth a visit.
The church was constructed some time around the 9thβ11th century, from a single continuous corbelled vault, with the splayed walls of the base supporting the roof, giving it the shape of an upturned boat.
Anyone in need of some ancient art to brighten up your day? In need of some _cute_ ancient art?
How about this marvel from (probably) the first century CE Rome, currently held in the Getty museum, of a bronze mouse nibbling away!
The perfect combo: the entrance to the steps to the Chapter House at Wells Cathedral is fronted with a delightful medieval door. I don't think I've seen any photographs that include it. So it took a pic..πΈ
Fellow authors, I love you, and I know it feels like we donβt have a choice, but B&N and Am*zon both scheduled sales this week to preempt Independent Bookstore Day, a hugely vital source of income for indie bookstores. Please donβt promote their sales; please promote your local indie this week.
Goddamn.
You have to actually SAY THE THING for change to occur. No more friendly acronyms or umbrella euphemisms. Say "Anti-Black racism". Stop trying to create soft and gentle terms for what is actually happening and ungently harming real people.
Giving a talk on Deaf people in the long 18th century, you're more than welcome to attend. This would be of interest to those into Georgian history, those into Irish Deaf history. 14henriettastreet.ticketsolve.com/ticketbooth/...

Looking for experts in early Victorian Irish working class clothing, I have a few questions. would a carpenter renting a shop for his business necessarily wear a waistcoat?
Exactly.
The US ceased to exist on January 20th.
Now we have this clown show of a musical comedy dictatorship, with no adults in charge of anything. Wanna be autocrats, two-but grifters, psychopaths, drug addicts, drunks, all low IQ racist homophobes.
That's how fast things can fail.
Just got an email from the Fulbright Association. As of right now, funding has been cut off to 12,500 US citizens currently abroad and and more than 7,400 foreigner scholars and students in the United States
Illustration featuring all the women of the Mini MnΓ‘ series. #art #blueskyart #speirgorm
A few years ago I made a series of mini drawings of interesting Irish women (available as a print here www.ciaraioch.com/artprints/p/...) - this thread is a little information on the women featured, partly because it's useful, but mostly because I'm trying to be sustainable by recycling content.
And that it causes your immune system to forget what it's learned about other diseases, making you much more vulnerable to everything else. Fun! π
Everything is off the rails right now, but news of physical intimidation at scientific conferences by MAGA shows how far things have already gotten. #StandWithScience
Hidden away for centuries in a Transylvanian church tower, a forgotten medieval library has come to light, revealing treasures as old as the 9th century, a rare glimpse into the intellectual and cultural life of medieval Romania. www.medievalists.net/2024/11/lost...
