It’s still a great game by and large but they’ve just bafflingly removed a ton of DQ Builders quality of life stuff it’s genuinely baffling. Why is there no minimap. What is there no town bell feature. Everything is just mildly more frustrating to accomplish in this game than DQ Builders.

You can go back to that story island but at that point…why bother?

But it doesn’t feel like it wants you to move on from the story islands, and yet, unless you do you’ll be missing a ton of building blue prints.

Compared to DQ Builders, it feels disjointed in what the game really wants from you since only the main Island in allows coop, freedom etc

So I’m at an impasse. With DQ Builders you had your main island and then story islands you’re supposed to rebuild and move on from.

Pokopia feels confused about what it wants. You have your story islands that are huge and then the “main island” that’s for your real builds and is enormous.

The removal of combat and the deliberate slowing down of the games pace is so good. It’s got a little more animal crossing in it than I initially realized but it’s great

Agreed, probably one of the most underplayed games in the genre and it’s a master class.

Played a chunk of Pokopia. It’s very much Dragon Quest Builders 3 with Pokemon skin and new home mechanics which is exactly what I’d hoped for.

I’m glad these devs got an IP this enormous and hopefully it does better than DQ Builders. DQ Builders was also 10/10 great.
