An orange-ish slug (Mesarion sp.) crawls on a mossy rotten log surface. Behind it is a glob of mucus that it secreted, and a thread of that goo is wrapped around the end of its tail. There is an unseen light source off to the right and upwards, which the slug appears to be crawling toward, looking hopeful.
End of year, end of #invertefest . Hopeful slug crawling towards the light away from a glob of its own defensive goo is how I hope to live in 2026

A Large Pacific Banana slug slumbers all curled up, in what looks like would be an uncomfortable position were they to have bones. Their black patterns on dark green-yellow skin reminds me of a rorschach test. They're taking a break from munching on the Russula fungi they are using for shelter. The slugs are mainly focusing on the gills so far but that's likely because of ease of access. Focus Stacked composite of 33 images.
Found this cutie all curled-up, napping under a Russula they'd just been munching on. Rest up little buddy. Days are only getting longer from here. #PacificBananaSlug #Fungi
