I may have asked my library to get that book after I saw you post about it the other day

I used to work in the NHS and a few years ago the entire health system went down for a day because someone sent a test email to 850,000 people and someone reply all'd. In hindsight it was hilarious but it was so incredibly stressful at the time
Begone, GenAI bot.
My biggest regret with Reivdene is that I wrote it in bullet points fragments rather than Actual Prose and I'm really glad that this review calls that out as a weakness
Yeah, theatre is a visual medium and a good production absolutely annihilates simply reading the text (and I say this as someone with a degree in Shakespeare)
The commitment to inconsistent capitalisation really sells this and I think you know that
Absent from this short list because I should be sleeping:

Wrote a very quick (free) post over on Patreon recommending a handful of poetry collections that I found particularly impactful, if you're interested in exploring poetry and don't know where to start

I used to have a little notebook that I carried when I was a bookseller where I wrote down every book I saw that I wanted to read. Last year I deliberately threw it out and it honestly felt incredible
I'm in the UK. Kids are definitely being given full books to read here.
The noise I just made
Of course they do
You'll all love Emily Dickinson
Genuinely begging RPG writers to give more of a shit (read: any of a shit) about the actual craft and art of writing.
Yes, get into poetry, for the love of god.
Realistically if I can't sell 30 games to raise this then I probably shouldn't be paying to keep the site up anyway so yknow
It is what it is
Hey so Loot The Room is going to disappear off the internet if I can't come up with about Β£250 in the next few days.
If you've ever thought about picking up any of my games now would be an excellent time to do that.

There are very few people I'll talk shit about publicly but here we are
If that were true Andrews McMeel would still have an RPG division. Let's not forget it was always second to crossword puzzle books.
Remember when that Reddit poweruser who was top of every single thread for a decade was revealed to be using sockpuppets and never posted ever again?
E. P. Coleridge's translation of a passage from Orestes. It reads: ORESTES Well said! thy shrewdness saves thee; go within. PHRYGIAN Thou wilt not kill me after all? ORESTES Thou art spared! PHRYGIAN O gracious words! ORESTES Come, I shall change my mind- PHRYGIAN Ill-omened utterance!
Anne Carson's translation of Orestes, the same extract as in the first screenshot, which reads: ORESTES : Very poetic. Your eloquence has saved you. Go indoors. SLAVE : You wonβt kill me? ORESTES : Go. SLAVE : Fabulous. ORESTES : Unless I reconsider. SLAVE : Not fabulous.
Thinking about Anne Carson's translation of Orestes again.
(E.P. Coleridge's 1891 translation on the left for reference)
My new Wretched & Alone game Blood In The Margins is out now! You killed someone on campus with your friends. Journal about the victim, the justifications, the investigation closing in.

I still haven't recovered
The original DCC RPG zine is back, bigger than ever. (Literally.) You can help @reverenddak.bsky.social funk a new edition of Crawl's first issue, with an alternate new cover by Doug Kovacs.
I did not know that but I'm about to fall down a rabbithole
Did they name the character Harvey Specter because Gabriel Macht played The Spirit or
The Wretched and the subsequent Wretched & Alone SRD were highly influential in how I think about games. It opened up a whole new world of solo TTRPGs for me.
If you've never checked out the original, you really should: loottheroom.itch.io/wretched
A long time ago I live tweeted my way through Cypher Sytem. If you're interested in seeing those posts, they now exist in blog form over on Loot The Room.
