YOU DID IT MACROSS SEVEN, YOU ACTUALLY KILLED A CHARACTER OFF FOR REAL. IT WAS EVEN EMOTIONALLY IMPACTFUL! I'M SO PROUD OF YOU!

In general, eps. 36-38 are acting A LOT more like Macross than the rest of the show thus far. They remembered that this is a space opera? That it doesn't feel like a war if every firefight ends in zero casualties? That there's supposed to be a little lore? That other characters deserve screentime?

I doubt that the directors intended this to scan like a joke but it really feels like Mylene and Ray just concluded Basara did shrooms and that fixed him. They're just relieved he's back to "normal", which is to say here's merely John Lennon instead of a Lord Baltar super defector.

No comment for TWO whole episodes because, extremely out of character, they were good! You did it Macross 7! You accomplished the basic goal of a scifi show: show me some scifi shit and some fun characters. All you had to do was banish Basara off screen and let anyone likeable actually do anything!

Oh whoops I falsely assumed characters would stay dead in a macross show.

I still have some lingering fondness for Gamlin (since he's been the only person who is acting like a human being), and I still like Max and Millia if only for their SDF Macross roles, but hey:

OK so they're trying to set up a parallel between Gamlin and Basara and it's annoying because Gamlin's makes sense (I just saw my boss choose sacrificing my girlfriend to keep holding a hostage) and Basara's makes none (Why do I sing? Lol iunno guess I'll stop and run away.)

Rip to Gigil, the only likeable character on this show. The show is looking grim without him, especially since Ray and Mylene are increasingly just Basara sycophants.

Actually what Basara did was cartoonishly evil and what you did was the obviously moral thing, the only reason you feel bad is because of the Basara Reality Distortion Field.

Mylene and Ray, not only has he stood you up before, he has done it multiple times on this show. He pretty regularly no shows until a Protodevlin attack forces him into his valkyrie, which is still not attending the concert.

It's Macross so he'll pivot to love by the final episode but like, cmon. You only play music to prove you can? Leave the Nietzsche at home.

Millia describes her daughter as a "civilian" which is... a lie, Millia. She's a combatant. She disables enemy squadrons with energy weapons. That's combat.

Basara's reason to sing? Because he can. A solipsistic answer for an utterly self-absorbed man. He is using that will to... revive the supervampire. Mylene correctly decides this is high treason and an existential threat to the 7.

Time to find out how Basara is secretly in the right to do this!

Keeping with the general theme of Macross 7 Plus being significantly better than its partner episode, Spirita Dreaming reveals the absolute horror of how the Protodevlin stole human bodies with which to go around doing evil shit during the show. It's simple but good horror!

The colonel who were are being told to hate for being mean to Basara offers a very good point: it took Fire Bomber dozens of deployments before a successful. Jamming Bird just needs more time on the clock and training to handle battlefield conditions. Dr Pervert disagrees.

We once again reinforce the unique specialness of Basara. No one can ever get close to Basara's perfection. Even Minmay is subordinate to Basara's perfection. Not even the MPs can stop Basara with a gun.

Remember, when Macross Frontier did this, they just copped to it being a talent show where having a beauty standards body was part of it. They didn't try to dress it up as science or a military necessity.

I am once again watching Macross 7 and as usual, it's hell. Nekki Basara is refusing to help form a second song valkyrie squad out of pure selfishness. The sound scientist is doing bust/waist/hip phrenology and demanding people publicly announce their virginity.

It might be made workable for new documents, but I have a lot of very long documents I have to maintain where I *cannot* have the formatting differ even a little differently without the entire document breaking, and Libre handles many types of formatting in slightly different ways.
