Finding the common threads Though vastly different, extremist movements, such as far-right ethno- nationalists, religious fundamentalists and online "incel" communities, have something in common. The ideological language may differ, but the underlying insistence on women's "rightful place" in society binds these movements together. Around the world, there is a growing sentiment that "feminism has gone too far" or that men are now discriminated against. In Australia and other Western countries, this sentiment has risen steadily since 2021.
Our research In our recent national survey of Australian adults and adolescents, we examined general misogynistic attitudes and support for violent extremism. We asked whether it is legitimate to use violence to resist feminism. More than 17% of all Australians agree feminism should be resisted with violence. It was the second most supported form of extremist attitude. Our study included a representative sample of 13-17-year-olds across Australia. The findings are even more confronting among these participants.
This is the world young women and girls are growing up in.
IWD commemorates our fight for equality and liberation. But the fight is not over. We must fight for our trans sisters. We must fight for our bodily autonomy, for disability rights, mental health access, and reproductive rights. We must fight for justice for survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence. We must fight for comprehensive immigration reform & fight against discrimination and racial inequality. We must fight for family courts which protect mothers and children, and for better conditions and protections for incarcerated women.
This International Women’s Day, we keep the faith and we keep fighting.

Also want to point out that two non-white boys, at least one who had none of the advantages the wealthy white boys had to pursue the sport & become good, just raw talent, were terrorized out of a sport they hoped to pursue to greatness. Then white men claim to dominate everything.

We really need to talk more about supremacist ideology being enforced through sexual violence even among men which is minimized & dismissed as "hazing." Two boys were terrorized with racist rhetoric & repeatedly sexually assaulted. The school protected the perpetrators.

These are the people who call women too sensitive & ruled by emotion. Women opting out is only a harm to men who feel entitled to own human beings. The way men define harm to themselves, while dismissing their abuse of women, continues to outline why women aren't safe. And why they should opt out.
