Orange box filled with text saying βIβm on a 150 day learning streak! Duolingo.β Yellow and orange phoenix like image of cartoon bird to the right.
Joined Duolingo during winter break. Thought it was a good diversion to break the Meta habit. Now, Iβm wondering if it too should be ditchedβ¦

Now trying @eh-now.bsky.social and so far so good. Streamlined platform, succinct posts, easy to find groups and already found news about donating some of my artwork to a local organization. Also, reminder weβre back on water restrictions. π€£β¨π¨π¦

Alpine strawberry plant with blossoms and ripe fruit. Growing under LED growlights.
Four alpine strawberries held in an open Caucasian hand. Black growing tray and terracotta pot in background.
Iβve been growing an Alpine Strawberry plant indoors this year and itβs going modestly well. πβ€οΈ

Wooden support spindle, resting on a wooden bowl, resting on a wooden floor. Blue and white rolag of silk and wool filling the spindle, part of the unspun rolag cushioning the shaft of the spindle so it doesnβt touch the floor.
βHow do you meditate?β She asked.
βLight a candle and breathe.β He said.
At the time, she was disappointed by the answer.
Now, she understands it.

Why Tumbler Ridge is resilient | CBC News
The town at the centre of a national tragedy has faced collapse and hardship but continues to persevere.
I have been privileged to be reporting on Tumbler Ridge for more than a decade.
I wanted to provide a little more context for why it is so incredibly unique and why the word "resilient" keeps popping up when people talk about it
It's a town that doesn't give up

Bluesky is turning out to be somewhat (a lot) disappointing. Just saw this now. Perhaps it will get better in time. Or perhaps weβre all just getting tired of connecting through devices and turn to more human forms of communication. In the meantime, Iβll look for your newsletter in my inbox. β¨

Albertan Independence? Meet Reality
UCP voters are split, while NDP voters overwhelmingly oppose leaving Canada
A reminder that Albertan independence is not popular
Pollara found Albertan independence at 19%
Ipsos found it at 28%
Research Co found it at 31% (Which I covered below)
All had strong majorities against independence

Looks great! β¨ I am also new to it and also donβt love it yet; however, I do like the resulting texture of the yarn Iβm spinning - seems like maybe a better way to spin mohair.(?)

A paper collage with abstract and space-like shapes arranged on a black paper square surrounded by art supplies on a wooden desk. The collage lays on a green cutting mat. White coloured pencil crayon title on the bottom corner of the collage: Abstract Advent β25.

Green cutting mat covered with lemon juice burned cutout paper shapes, black and tan botanical gelli prints and bright yellow onion skin dyed stars. A black piece of paper provides contrast under the shapes.
Boxing Day puzzle. Adding some onion skin dyed stars and gelli print leftovers to solve my belated #abstractadvdnt2025 composition.

24 drawings in pencil and pen.
Mostly black green and yellow.
Here are my 24 drawings for #AbstractAdvent2025.
Weβve been using Abstract Advent at work to start off lessons this month: abstract shapes taken from childrenβs book illustrations that we turned into whatever came to mind.
Some really tricky ones this year but I did enjoy the process.

Frost enrobed unidentified plant material rises vertically from a snow covered prairie landscape - cropped close. A grey sky is pierced by an ice-crystal-hazy afternoon sun.
Syncing the Socials with frozen plant material today. No exciting frost out there this morning, so this is from a few weeks ago. Sending sparkly vibes to you all! β¨βοΈ
