Happy eps Ind Ab day! Possible water clouds on this cool (also literally) planet from JWST images in the near- and mid-infrared.

Photo of a cuneiform tablet fragment shaped a bit like an irregular diamond. It preserves nearly 20 incomplete lines of text separated by a horizontal ruling
There's a broken cuneiform tablet from the Old Babylonian period, nearly 4,000 years ago, which preserves a tiny portion of a dialogue between two friends.
It feels a bit like the conversations I've been having for the past week, so I wanted to share it.

Cool! Isotopic ratios of H,C,N of our favorite interstellar intruder 3I/ATLAS are different from our solar system. If I understand OK, it means colder and older environment.

The image show the dark silhouette of a tree and rooftops at bottom, with the Sun right above the tree. Sundogs are visible left and right of the moon, a faint halo can be seen and a concave arc at top in the image. This is the upper tangent arc. The lower half of the sky is brownish from dust in the sky.
Faint #halo, #sundogs and upper tangent #arc around the #Sun through Saharan dust right now.

My dad's dad grew vegetables in a glass house. My mother's dad worked at a bank (I think?). I looked up my ancestors from both sides and it's basically all gardeners, builders, and farm hands 6 generations deep.

When someone says „Scientists do not want you to know“ you can dismiss everything from there on. Scientists want you to know. They are desperate that you know. They can’t shut up about what they found out and want you to know.

Het is misschien ook deels omdat de cirkels niet in hetzelfde perspectief staan? Zijn ovaaltjes of 'gekantelde' vierkantjes beter?

CNN reporting that the strikes on Iran tonight are joint US and Israeli strikes.
Which means Donald Trump should be impeached for a third time.
What he has done tonight is illegal under the US constitution and the UN charter.

It seems like most of the noticeable technological advancements of the last decades are in software, not so much in hardware. Cars, houses, trains,... pretty much look the same. Drones are the exception I guess. And the size of mobile phones? Or am I missing stuff?

A red-white striped parachute seen from below against a reddish-grayish sky.
The perseverance heatshield falling away towards the surface of Mars.
The inside is black and has serveral orange cables running across. around the perimeter are eight spiral springs that helped to push the heatshield away.
The Perseverance rover as seen from the skycrane above, dangling from three ropes and a cable umbilical. The Red Mars dust from the surface is getting blown away where the plume from the skycrane hits the the martian surface. The rover deck is still remarkably clean as compared to later in the mission.
The skycrane from below, partially obscured by Mars dust and small rocks it flies away. Each of the four corners has a pair of thrusters and the umbilical cable that has just been cut is curled up below the skycrane.
I can't believe it has already been 4 years since the Perseverance rover landed on Mars! #planetsci
The rover was equipped with six engineering camera that captured more than 26.000 images during the landing!

This is also because they let more water flow through the rivers, which have been dried up in recent decades. It's not like they are planting trees throughout the desert. See e.g. some promo here en.people.cn/n3/2025/0930...
It's a fascinating area, I think.
