Two more shots of the Hooded Crow that was present at the crow pre-roost on Link's Hill car park, Lowestoft. The crows are fed here most mornings so there's a very good chance it'll be there first thing before they disperse #SuffolkBirding

I am investigating but canโt see any reason why all the previous posts have been removed and only Landguard ones showing
An outrageous total of 225 moths of 11 species trapped last night in my E Norfolk garden. I usually treat this first weekend in March as the first trap outing of the year, and it usually produces just a handful of moths. Highlight was 3 Small Brindled Beauties, my first since 2001 and new for garden
With spring migrants starting to arrive, our first migration blog of the spring looks at what's been reported so far and what to look out for in the rest of March #ukbirding

Brilliant weekend @rspbminsmere.bsky.social Having thought this was an extremely early swallow, some very helpful people have confirmed it is in fact a red rumped swallow ๐ฎ seen flying over the north wall. Not a great photo butโฆ. Amazing! @rarebirder.bsky.social @btobirds.bsky.social

A dinky gull feeding near the road at Borve had us doing an emergency stop this morning: a fabulous adult Bonaparte's Gull giving incredible views. Only the second record for Barra and my third self-found. #birdingscotland #RareBirdsUK

Rossโs Gull at Newlyn, Cornwall this morning (22nd Feb 2026). Found on the 21st in Newlyn harbour by Shaun Grose.
This is the 9th for Cornwall and my fourth. The last record was in 2020 when an adult was found at Gerrans Bay on 1st Jan.

Nothing beats a Wheatear, especially a showy one.
This male Desert Wheatear was coming within 4 meters of me, I had to back off to get some videos through the scope!

A lovely little day with my first Yank Wigeon in 14 years, Humeโs Warbler, Tundra Bean Geese, Firecrest, and great company. The sun even made an appearance!
Not too shabby. Wonder what this years ones will be.
Been working a lot on woodpeckers recently, which inspired this new design for @aluladesigns.bsky.social

Always enjoy getting these summaries of my @birdtrack.bsky.social year. Recorded more additional taxa last year and plan to add even more this year as well as adding more breeding evidence to my records.
A short video of the female King Eider that has frequented Quendale Bay here in Shetland since finding it in early December.
Also a very welcome addition to the house list...๐กโ

Hume's Warbler at Lowestoft, Suffolk this morning. A very active bird which showed well. A very pale individual with a call similar to a Pied Wagtail.
Pochard that seems to be the same bird first seen in December and showing features of possible Pochard x Canvasback, Abberton #EssexBirding
Weather back to normal today, although wind was calmer than the last 3 weeks!
A 3rd w/4th cy Glaucous Gull and a flock of 9 wintering Jackdaws in Burravoe, Yell.
Tried to get a photo of the Coot but it had done a bunk!
2 of the 34 TDโs showed some signs of Ring necked Duck.

Lovely bit of early morning sunshine, Song Thrush, Greenfinch, and Dunnock all singing away.
We are receiving increased reports of dead auks, including Puffins, particularly in North East Scotland. It's quick and easy to report any dead or sick birds you find through the 'Deceased bird' function on the home page of the BirdTrack app
