#14 Ariana Grande - thank u, next (2018) (USA)
Shimmers, glitters, contains a highly transferable life philosophy.

#15 Stormzy (2/2) - Big For Your Boots (2017) (UK)
*You* *are* *never* *too* *big* *for* *Adele*
I'll go for 48 if it's still available?
#THETENX5 Day 35
#16 Michael Kiwanuka - You Ain't The Problem (2019) (UK)
I also cannot resist a bongo-breakdown; the whole of YATP is joyfully funky.

#17 Lykke Li - I Follow Rivers (The Magician Remix) (2011) (SWE/ BEL)
I cannot resist a remix with big house pianos. Apparently I saw Lykke Li in the 2010s, I can't remember it*, I'm sure this song was great.
(*old age, not over indulgence)
Currently scouting new-age fado (is this likely to contain bangers?), Gothic Metal, some very vibey rap, and - of course - kuduro ...
#THETENX5 Day 33
#18 Skepta ft. Jme - That's Not Me (2014) (UK)
Gets the nod due to a) Mark Morrison reference and b) inclusion of cigarette smoke to the Gucci and LV 'not me' pile.
It's fate ... Jeff/ Geoff was the boy's name my parents had picked out for me (altho they disagreed on the spelling)
yep, I don't think it's sharp enough for what it's going for (I think that was even more the case for Synecdoche, New York ... but I can't remember a thing about that movie)
it was also quite bracing to see Tilda Swinton in non-quirk mode

#19 Sampa The Great - Final Form (2019) (ZMB)
Starts with a blast of joy, and the rest of the song is just as energising as Sampa steps up and takes her place.
Recent Activity: Millennium Mambo - 2 stars Adaptation - 3 stars Dead of Night - 4 stars dial M for Murder - 3.5 stars
Not the most exciting four, although Dead of Night was a delight (such fun spookiness). I'd forgotten everything about Adaptation (it was fine) - and did not get Millennium Mambo at all (sorry all the people who love it on LB'D).

#20 BeyoncΓ© (2/2) feat.
Kendrick Lamar (3/3) - Freedom (2016) (USA)
Following up two forces of nature, with BeyoncΓ© being a literal force of nature. Rousing, defiant, and it rocks.
fab, this was such an easy and enjoyable listen (also excellent algorithm nudges afterwards, finally heard some Baby Keem album tracks)
#THETENX5 Day 30
#21 Vince Staples- BagBak (2017) (USA)
It was hard to choose a track from Big Fish Theory. There are such good beats throughout, but I've gone for these slightly sinister (in a good way) post industrial ones, and Vince crushing it (we on now...).
#THETENX5 Day 29
#22 Danny Brown - Pac Blood (2011) (USA) (Singleβ)
So rude (sorry), so funny, and such a joyful celebration of creativity. Also, Fleet Foxes sound on fire π₯π₯
#THETENX5 Day 28
#23 RosalΓa - Malamente (Cap.1: Augurio) (2018) (ESP)
It always surprises me how sparse the claps and synths are - it sounds fresh and compelling every time I listen.
#THETENX5 Day 27
#24 Icona Pop feat. Charli xcx - I Love It (2012) (SWE/ UK)
Delightfully shouty and vrooooomy.
#THETENX5 Day 26
#25 PZ - Croquetes (2012) (POR) (NKC β)
This is *the* 2010s song at home - including the disrespect for, and swearing at, the codfish π Aside from that, it's a squelchy laid back vibe.
(PZ was my last gig of the 2010s and this was the highlight.)
(I haven't had a proper 'pay attention' listen yet, but played it through a couple of times and enjoyed it)
#THETENX5 HM5
Luis Fonsi ft. Daddy Yankee - Despacito (2017) (USA-PR)
"favoritos, favoritos baby" is probably one of my bits favoritos from a 2010s song
π (hope you're enjoying the new album?)
I enjoyed it (had that feeling too). Going in for listen 2.
i've also been experiencing it as background - and yes, it's doing that very nicely (need to give it a proper listen too)
very much Tijoux day today
#THETENX5 HM4
Ana Tijoux - 1977 (201O) (CHL/FRA)
... this song kept popping in and out of my list so it's great to see it being chosen, and having an opportunity to boost
#THETENX5 HM3
Stromae - papaoutai (2013) (BEL)
... thank you @steveperez.bsky.social for reminding me of this song (and learning the story behind it) ...
Yey - snap!
#THETENX5 HM2
Don Omar & Lucenzo - Danza Kuduro (2010) (USA-PR/ POR-FRA)
... and a kuduro banger.
[Lots of fun versions of this - I also have a soft spot for Big Ali SHOUTING throughout the 'vem dançar...' original]
#THETENX5 HM1
The Comet Is Coming - Summon The Fire (2019) (UK)
My HMs are tracks other people have chosen that should have/ nearly were on my list.
Starting off with a sax banger.
