This is so painfully Alyss and Leliana and I can't get over it.

There has been a couple of instances when she was younger and more trusting where in hindsight Alyss realized she might have been taken advantage of, though she didn't as it was happening. It wouldn't happen quite so easily anymore, because she wouldn't just trust anyone like that.

Oh I think that's also definitely true. I just don't particularly connect that line to that. But that might also be because that's a very common sentiment when an abuser dies. Does feeling a certain way about it make me a bad person, etc.

She realizes it real soon. I think at the latest it's gonna be in uthenera. This arc is very crucial in a lot of ways and this is definitely one. The problem then becomes... she just doesn't want to confront it, or admit to it, or accept it, and eventually she does at least admit to Leliana that

They're being real cute so far but Leliana is gonna see Alyss at arguably her most vitriolic and angry by the end of this arc and it's not gonna be happy fun times then. :/

I'll be honest I didn't envision Leliana falling first to be the dynamic right when I started, but I think it's become a case of Alyss does and says all the right things she just doesn't quite realize it. So in her head it's like "no why would she even like me lol there is no reason".

Imagining the Caretaker angrily coming in with a broom after everyone leaves now.
