"bluesky is full of liberals" wrong. bluesky is full of girlcock.
Body decided to have a minor case of pneumonia. I'm.on the mend finally, but wow this week started in a sinkhole.
Asian creators will show a normal city backdrop of Shanghai or Tokyo or whatever they are.
White boy saying "I tried the BEST street food in China!" chooses stereotypical lanterns and 1700s architecture.

I can't count visually above 6 without getting confused by the spheres. Heck, even making each 4 spheres a slightly different shade would be fine! Give my eyes a marker to count from!
This is the stuff I think about all the damned time. When I TO, my YGO night is *flooded* with players up the wazoo. People love this game. But when you ask how to explain it to a new person and onboard them? It's trial by fire. And it shouldn't be.
There also just needs to be a community program where TOs and Judges are incentivized to teach the game to newcomers. We need Welcome Decks that are for a Beginner's Format that plays at a 5Ds era pace and has a set card pool. Speed Duels coulda been that, and maybe it should be tried again.
The Judge exams are also too much of a low bar now. I can't and won't talk about specifics to the test, but it needs to be harder and also have mentorship involved. Even mechanically sound judges often have attitude and attention issues that mentoring would fix.
Judges also need better compensation. Travel expenses should be repaid in cash, not product. Judges should also have an extra level. RC1 for local Tier 1, RC2 for Tier 2, and RC3 for Tier 3, and the exams should have online proctoring at RC2 and above, not just in person sessions.
We also need card layout revision. The Overframes are outstanding but they don't fix certain layout issues or readability problems.
We need a new font that deals with small sizes better. We need to pull the Level/Rank stars into one big star icon with a number. Stuff like that.
Mechanically I think we could go over to icons for things like Tuner/Union/Spirit/etc. Truncate once per turn clauses. They take so long to explain the diff between SOPT and HOPT to a newbie, we might as well just have it "Once" for SOPT and "Once Only" for HOPT or something.
Yeah, we really need an overhaul of card layout. Even if we kept largely the same aesthetic, little things would clean it up.
My big ask is making the Level/Rank stars into one big star with a number next to it. I experimented with a redesign a few years ago and it was my fave element to condense.
The LMD type product is a really good step in the right direction for onboarding people at a cheap rate with Advanced, but we need a Genesys product, we need better Judge training and support, and we need improved tournament software.
Draft product would be great, too. I know it's harder to design for, but it's not that high of a difficulty. There are tons of bridges and common mechanics that can knit a draft pool together. We do it all the time at a homebrew level with Cubes.
I wish there was more support from Konami for casual or relaxed formats though. I'd really like to see promotion of Domain, HOTU, etc.
I'd *really* like to see them produce a line of Genesys products in NA/EU regions. Just good, solid starter decks for the format.
I'm convinced I'll never be an outstanding YuGiOh player. I don't have a lot of competitive spirit, ADHD often crops up, and I really can't tolerate boys club mentality that kicks in with a ton of dude players. Wears me down.
But I love this game and want to be the best TO and Judge I can be.
And the circle is now fucking CLOSED. Found Dan Rockwell's blog. Corroboration of an anecdote I heard ages ago - the "Do It Now" ad was originally set to Chemical Brothers' Chemical Beats when shown at A-Kon 1997.
ADV couldn't get the rights, so they used "Do It Now" when it started hitting tapes.
Lmao
I do tend to think of Reborning ED stuff as the "did you pay attention in YuGiOh kindergarten" filter tbh. All of the logic proceeds explicitly from "you must properly summon ED monsters first to reborn them" and idk how that gets missed.
4 panel comic, black & white P1: A large monolithic onyx black spacecraft hangs heavy-yet-weightless in low orbit over a planet. A caption box booms: "MEANWHILE! IN THE FAMILY VEHICLE!" From a triangular window on the front of the spacecraft, a voice yells "ARE WE THERE YET?!" P2: Cut to the interior of the craft. Sat at the controls in the cockpit is a husky man wearing what could be described as "Jack Kirby Chic." Behind him, we can see something with beady eyes looming as he answers "verily, my loin-spawn, I say thee once again: NAY!" P3: We reveal the abomination that is the pilot's child, sat sedentary in a chair atop a robotic arm. Head far too large for their body, they yell "but oh father mine: ARE WE THERE YET?!" P4: Closeup on the father's beleaguered face, as he quietly says "by fuck" through gritted teeth
MEANWHILE!

Illusion Gate does not let you summon an ED monster from the GY that wasn't first properly summoned.
It gets around the text on cards that say things like "must first be...", not an explicit rule of the game.
Monster Reborn rules apply.

By the age of 25 you should:
- Be able to raise the dead
- Form a zombie army
- Rebel against humankind
- Bring about the apocalypse
- Make sunny side up fried eggs without burning them in a stainless steel pan c'mon Dave get it together
Thank you to Anthony Gramuglia for bringing attention to this issue. I’m part of an activist group fighting this bill and I was very upset to see it go through committee this past week. We need as many people aware and motivated to give their reps an earful as possible.
Also, Stephen is feigning a position of neutrality or doubt in this topic, but is clearly biased towards promoting AI in all his other posts and his profession.
Even if he genuinely wants to understand more, his entire process is about poisoning the well.
Check in on this person in a couple of months and see, if like so many "I'm just asking questions" people in history, they are either fully immersed into right-wing propaganda, stuck in a pyramid scheme, or turned out to be a paid actor.

Dear @konamina.bsky.social, please stop using your North American printer for YuGiOh and use your Japanese printer instead. If Bandai can do it, so can you.
The card quality issues have gone on too damned long.
Using aphantasia as an excuse to use AI feels like someone saying "AI is bad but it's okay if *I* use it because I'm different".
I have aphantasia. I can't visual anything. There's nothing in there. Just black void. I still manage to draw. I don't need a computer to make slop I can make myself.
