Great article. I particularly liked(?) this part, about the way manosphere talking points were used to justify the shooting of RenΓ©e Good at the very highest levels of the US gov. Reactions that say "duh, the right was always misogynist!" while not untrue, miss the point. This is escalating

I donβt know, if I spent all my time online claiming that a group of people were so terrifying and dangerous that they should be excluded from public life and any space I am in, I wouldnβt spend money to willingly go to a concert with up to 10,000 of them

Yesterday the NHS banned all under 18 prescriptions of HRT for trans young people.
This ban was justified by 10 new studies that largely stated NO EVIDENCE for under 18s HRT exists.
The study underpinning this played one particular trick.
Let's briefly look at how the NHS rigged the game 1/5

The rest of you need to up your game & join the 21st century.

Funny how the puberty blockers trial gets paused, and then we find out there's a transphobe pulling the strings once again.
Trans research needs to be trans led. Putting transphobes like Cass and this MHRA weirdo in charge is deeply unethical.

BREAKING: it appears that the MHRA, in control of the UK puberty blocker trial, appointed a senior officer who had previously mocked supporters of trans rights online.
Recusal is not enough here. He and those responsible for appointing him should resign.
How can trans people trust them now?

So I'm going to be on the panel for this, alongside Dr Michael Brady, who will be discussing relevant findings from his National LGBT+ Health Report, and our anaesthetic colleague Dr Medlock who will be talking about the potential impacts on inclusive peri-op care.

Streeting's email to Labour MPs - kicks off with a flat lie.
Cass did not recommend a ban. In fact she recommended exactly the opposite to what Labour has done. (webarchive.nationalarchives.gov.uk/ukgwa/202503...)

The concept of gender identity is useful and should not be discarded. The mistake was to allow the reification of "sex" as some separate, concrete thing that aligns with, and reifies, cisgender gender identities. 1/

This is very detailed and worth reading as it clearly describes the harms associated with trans toilet bans.
Obviously content warnings for discussion of degendering/third sexing, psychological trauma, apartheid, etc.

Very healthy response of her to block me for daring to provide a critique of what was a clearly transmedicalist and gender essentialist piece.

So I'm now blocked by @assignedmedia.org's journalist, for providing much needed feminist criticism of the piece (and, perhaps more pertinently, for saying I had no idea who the journalist was).

People talk about this stuff in terms of how much it'll suck for gaming and I hate to inform you how many MRI machines, X-Rays, all sorts of other vital machinery are just a Windows IoT Edition PC in a beige plastic box with a big magnet/accelerator/whatever attached.

Oh I see, trans people need to categorise themselves, make themselves legible and essentialised, accept binary sex, accept patriarchy, and maybe we might get a few crumbs off the table for throwing our sisters under the bus. Hard nope to that.

As far as I'm concerned, your argument is "the cis folks gain legitimacy by reifying their genders, so we have to do that too". You're wrong, the master's tools will actually not dismantle the master's house. Please read some Butler and some Lorde before having any more "conversations".

As such I'd say that the OP's article above is not only potentially transmedicalist, by apparently wishing to reify trans identities through transition rather than questioning the reification of cisgender gender identities; but it is also regressive from a feminist standpoint.

I should add that the greatest gift that trans people can perhaps offer feminism is to help deconstruct the patriarchal hierarchy that is based upon the reification of "birth sex" as a concrete category that determines women's roles in society.

An emancipatory approach to trans rights thus only comes when we remove the reification of sex/cisgender gender identities and end the segregation of trans healthcare and rights from matching cisgender healthcare and rights. 3/

For everything that trans people ask for, there is a cisgender equivalent that is cheerfully allowed. This is because cisgender gender identity/sex is reified. HRT, affirming treatments, correct pronouns, access to spaces, and so on are seen as god-given rights if you're cisgender. 2/
